  1. INTERNATIONAL MODEL BOAT SHOW 2018 Visit the only 3-day marine modelling exhibition in the UK. The International Model Boat Show is the only 3-day marine modelling exhibition dedicated to all aspects of marine modelling - an event not to be missed! It is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading marine modelling exhibitions and takes place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th November at the Warwickshire Event Centre. Organisers are expecting 3000+ visitors, who will be able to enjoy in excess of 600 models from over 25 clubs and societies, where some of the finest marine models will be on display. The excellent and varied displays include everything from early warships to modern power boats – all of which will be complemented by action on the large indoor boating pool. There will be nearly 20 specialist suppliers present, offering visitors everything they could need for their boat and modelling needs and attendees will be able to view new technologies and buy newly available products. In addition to all the boating action, the Tamiya Truckin team will be demonstrating and driving their 1/14 scale radio controlled models on a roadway system over 80 metres square. This fantastic arena will feature radio controlled 1/14 scale trucks, plant and machinery. The organisers are pleased to confirm that the HMS Ark Royal will be attending the 2018 exhibition. This model gained an overwhelming amount of attention at the Alexandra Palace show, where it was first unveiled in January this year. Built by Royal Navy veteran David Fortey over the course of 25 years, this magnificent model was created by working from original builders plans direct from the MOD. It is 12.5 ft (3.8m) long and all measurements were converted to 1:72 scale from the original drawings. In total it weighs over 14 stone/90kg and is fully radio-controlled with working parts. Exhibition Manager, Avril Spence said “we are delighted to be able to present the HMS Ark Royal for our Model Boat Show visitors. It is a spectacular model which was admired so much at Alexandra Palace that we had to make sure it was on display again for this event”. Lastly, this year the award for the best society/club display will be sponsored by the magazine “Model Boats”. Last year King Lear Model Boat Club came 1st, in 2nd place was Bournville Radio Sailing & Model Boat Club and in 3rd position was The Lifeboat Enthusiasts Society. Who will win this year?
