I'll be there with a display of all my loco and chassis kits as built, and I intend to bring supplies of etches for most of them too.  Please let me know if you want anything in particular and I'll try to make sure I have relevant supplies. If anyone has any questions about any of the kits, then this will be a good opportunity to ask me.

I'll try to remember to bring some scrap brass or nickel silver to demonstrate boiler/ smokebox rolling.

Andy, what sort of light refreshments will be available- any sandwiches or should I bring my own?

Hi Nigel,

I'm not sure about the refreshments - the info on the website and in the newsletter isn't that specific, and I'm not involved in the organisation of the event in any way. My guess is that it will be a selection of pre-packaged sandwiches and cakes along with tea and coffee.

Quick bump for Expo this weekend. I shall be there with Tucking Mill/William Smith's Wharf. I will also have my six wheel underframe etches and some other bits and pieces.

Hopefully see some of you there.

Hello to you all,

I'm very sorry to have to miss Chelford - looks like a great event with lots of goodies - but unfortunately too long a journey for me to contemplate at the moment. Have a great weekend and post lots of photos.

Best wishes,

John

Congratulations to the organisers and layouts/trade stands for putting on a fantastic show of 2FS! Here are some photos of the layouts (in order from the tea room towards the Association Central Shop...). Sorry that it's taken me a little while to get the photos tidied up and uploaded. I have some further photos that will appear in the Magazine in due course. Thanks must go to Mick Simpson for lending me his old camera.

Great photos Antony, a fine record of a terrific day. Many thanks for posting.

It wasn't quite William Smith's Wharf debut, it has been out a couple of times in various states of construction. This was the first time it had been out bolted to Tucking Mill with its full lighting rig attached. On the whole it behaved very well although there were a couple of issues; the lighting pelmet droops and needs a bit of adjustment but, more importantly, the discreet point levers proved to a little too discreet to the point they were difficult to operate - bit of a rethink needed there.

There were all sorts of superb exhibits but the real treat for me was the first outing of Ian Smith's Modbury. Despite the fact it is far from finished the slick presentation, baulk road and beautiful Edwardian trains means this is going to be a real head turner.

Thanks for the pictures Anthony. Your first picture of Llangerisech does prove that by me accidentally leaving one flight case at home with the main buildings, you got a much better view of the goods yard! Apologies to those who therefore didn't quite get the full effect as a result. I must agree that Modbury looks well on the way to being a stunning layout, the track is about as far away from Easitrack as you can get!

Always good to have such great interaction with fellow 2millers and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

It was a great day and although I got to speak to many I didn't manage to say hello to all, Llangeriserch seemed very busy most of the time. Modbury was most impressive. That lovely scratchbuilt Metro tank is Ian's second 2mm loco I believe.

My thanks to those who put all the work in to make it a good day.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments about Modbury.  I had a few issues over the day (which was nothing less than I expected!), especially since the only operating done on the layout prior to Expo was a little bit of electrical testing with a single loco - which probably explains why I hadn't realised that all of the tracks were live on the up (Newton Abbot) end traverser all of the time.  With the increase in temperature and stickiness in the hall as the day progressed I had issues with a couple of the TOU's, where the blades were not being pulled over fully.  But both engines ran faultlessly all day which was a bonus!   A very enjoyable time was had (by me) and it was nice to have so much interest from fellow 2mil'lers.

The photo's I took have been posted in the "Photo Call! 2mm Layouts Out and About at Exhibitions" here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/53154-photo-call-2mm-layouts-out-and-about-at-exhibitions/?p=1931787

Ian

PS.  Don, the Metro tank is indeed my second loco built to accompany my saddle tank.  It's my first ever scratch built effort (in any scale) and like the saddle tank still needs the brake gear, etc adding to the chassis.

It's a moot point now but I didn't realise this was Cheshire, I thought it was down south!

Probably all the 2mm people knew about it but I would have certainly been interested too as there was some amazing modelling to see.

Or did you have to be a 2mm society member to go in?

Cheers,

John E.

The Expo was open to all, not just 2mm members. Notices were put in the diary sections of most of the major modelling magazines to try and encourage non-members to come along.
