bmthtrains - David
While we've been off air, I noticed Bachmann have updated their product listings for both scales. Always taken with a pinch of salt, this is more interesting than usual however as some long promised products now finally have projected due dates. This makes a lot of sense as Farish are about to release their 2010 catalogue next month, so presumably have rough production slots pencilled in. 170 in Cross Country due March/April (I believe it is already on the boat) 170 London Midland June/July 158 in Northern and EMT liveries July Warships April 90 in Freightliner Sept/Oct And most exciting for me in the modern image list is the Class 222 Meridian now showing as due Oct/Nov, so presumably for Christmas. In steam: Class 5 - April/May Class 3 - June/July Class 4 - April/May With the 101, 9F and 2MT aside, this now gives proposed dates for all outstanding releases. Take 'em with a pinch of salt, but good to see dates, even if they change! David

David hey David, i noticed the updating of the schedules too. the class 222 and 158s have been on my wishlist since 2008 so a 2010 appearance would be nice. i'd heard that the midland mainline 222 wasn't going to happen but looks like that was wrong. potentially another expensive year...especially given Dapol's current planned products. 1977joey
Still no sign of the class 101 it seems Its been due for years
Tim H
One think that's puzzled me is that Hattons are (or at least were) advertising a BSK in blue/grey which hasn't appeared on the Farish website. The BSK (and CK) are the two missing coaches that they did in every other livery bar Blue/Grey.
Butler Henderson
Still no sign of the class 101 it seems Its been due for years The tooling is shot so the 108 was released instead making use of the research they did for the OO one. The 101 will appear as a brand new model at some future date...

Hi I emailed Bachmann a month ago regarding the Blue / Grey BSK 374-181 and was told that it had been produced in 2008. I've never see one for sale and Hattons last time I checked still had it on preorder. It no longer appears on the Bachmann website. Tim H
The blue grey BSK (and CK) were advertised on the Farish website at one point, but they never appeared, presumably because they never did get round to doing the missing interiors. The TSO and FK, for which interiors did materialise did appear in blue/grey (along with the SK, RMB and BCK), but the BSK and CK (both significant gaps, and both more useful than the BCK, which was quite a rare vehicle by the 70s) turned out to be vapourware

Dapol have managed to apply new liveries to their 66s etc pretty quickly yet it takes farish around a year! It is pretty rubish it takes them that long in my opinion

The real mystery is why this only applied to blue/grey livery. Are they suggesting that you can only see a coach interior (or lack thereof) if you paint it in blue/grey livery? Weird! RMweb Premium Steven B Posted March 12, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 12, 2010 why does ittake them so long to just add a new livery to existing models??!! Dapol have managed to apply new liveries to their 66s etc pretty quickly yet it takes farish around a year! It is pretty rubish it takes them that long in my opinion Don't Dapol paint/print their models in their UK factory? All Bach-Far stuff comes from China. This'll make it a lot easier for Dapol to slot in new livery runs, and do smaller batches or each running number - hence Dapol often releasing four running numbers in a batch of 1000 wagons whilst Farish do a batch of 1000 models with one number. Given that Bachmann have to schedule in the new livery run into the factory it's not suprising that they're a bit slower to get out repeat runs of existing models. It's not just coaching stock either. 16t minerals have been hard to find recently (new batch on the high seas I think) whilst there's never been a re-run of coal sector MEAs (which are impossible to find). Happy modelling, Steven B.
russellwar
Still no sign of the BDA's and dutch Seacomws were like hens teeth last year so see what coems this year!
grahame
Still no sign of the BDA's and dutch Seacomws were like hens teeth last year so see what coems this year! I'm sure I saw a whole heap of Farish Seacows on Orborns stand at the Abingdon show - you could try them. And, of course, the kit versions of both the BDA and Seacow are currently available from the NGS. G.
