DavidM
Hi all,After flooding my early 1990s layout with Seacows and Sealions (and other departmental vehicles of course!) I'm keen to model a few of the 'Stingray' bogie hoppers with the added generator.https://www.flickr.com/photos/davekirwinphotography/14798485741/in/photolist-r35m1H-r39AgE-9RMrJY-4gBtJC-e2XPiF-oxG7eTThe earliest photo I can find of these is from 1998 however I've never actually seen a date for when the conversions were carried out. Does anyone have any further data available at all?Cheers,Dave

deltic79
Am I right in thinking that there was normally just one Stingray per rake of light fitted Seacows? The photo above seems to suggest this and that would correspond with my memories from their introduction. Also were the orange boxes carried on the end platform of the Seacows (and presumably one on the Stingray too in addition to the generator) the lighting control units? Thanks. Yes, in my experiance 1 Stingray in a rake of about 10 wagons, orange boxes are controls/fuses, buttons on the outside ends. Cheers.
roythebus
Surely the ideal loco for a train of Stingrays would be a Thunderbird??
Ed-farms
Surely the ideal loco for a train of Stingrays would be a Thunderbird?? And anything could happen in the next half hour when operating them

Cheers, Dave Hi David, You could probably get pukka gen from the British Railways Wagon Research 1948-99 - Yahoo Group (https://groups.yahoo.com/group/BR_wagon_research/). A collection of very knowledgeable and friendly people, in my experience. Cheers Jan
