dasatcopthorne
Hi all, Has anyone fiited lighting to a Peco inspection pit? I fancy having a go at it but was looking for some advice if it can be done that is. TIA Michael Yes, done it on our Club layout. Go to the Scalescenes website and click on the free Inspection Pit kit. On the page you will find a line to Black Cat Technology where they do a lighting kit. Fitted this the the Peco pit by drilling holes in the appropriate spots. Covered holes on the inside with clear plastic 'windows' made with a holepunch. Best of luck. Dave. 14Steve14
There are many 12v led strips available which you can cut to length. Measure between the centres of the leds on the strip and make holes. Fix the leds behind and add a 12v or even a 9v battery to illuminate them. You can even choose between cool white or warm white leds.

You cannot see much of the LED strip as it's glued to the side of the Peco Pit. The small black box under the layout is the 'control' box which allows dimming of the LED strips. Definitely needed! They are far too bright without some dimming. Best of luck. Dave.
michaelp
Hello Dave, Thanks for posting the photos, the inspection pits look brilliant and the underboard wiring looks very tidy. Can I ask where you got the LEDs and dimmer from? Thanks again Dave Michael Just read where you got the LEDs from in one of your replies! gwrman
Hi, I fitted lights to some Peco pits once for a club I was in but I haven't got any photos sorry, I used 2mm x 5mm x 7mm rectangular LED's like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-5mm-x7mm-x2mm-square-bright-white-pre-wired-led-for-tamiya-trucks-trailers-/252018571923?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aad7a3a93 or (don't take any notice of the colour LED its just for reference) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rectangular-LED-White-5mm-x-2mm-Pack-of-10-/121178614926?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c36ceec8e Nigel
sdw7300
I used some side mounted LED's which measure 9mm x 1.9mm (Near the bottom of this page) http://www.expressmodels.co.uk/acatalog/WHITE_LEDs.html Being rectangular they look a bit like florescent tubes. Wired in pairs with a resistor then powered by 12v DC. Cheers
