Fenway Park
Hi, The bulk of Japanese modellers use ready to run from the major manufacturers but there are other smaller manufacturers who support those who wish to build their own models, These include World Kogei who are the Rolls Royce of this sector with similar prices. ARU Nine started as a supplier of fold and glue etched brass kits but have expanded to offer HO as well as N gauge kits. Last year they offered a B Class tank loco 0-4-0T and now are offering a C class tank which was the main industrial tank loco in Japan. This is available from Model Train Plus @ 12690 Yen plus postage. If it follows the B class then it will have a built chassis with motor fitted while the boiler and smoke box are of white metal. The other parts are etched brass. If interested please contact Nariichi on his web site.

velotrain
Does anyone have actual experience building a B or C Class - OR - running one of them? I'm wondering if they have low enough controllable speed to truly function as shunting engines? I'm also curious how distracting it is to see that large perpendicular gear poking out of the chassis while running? https://www.modeltrainplus.net/collections/aru-nine-arumo-n-scale/products/aru-nine-a1045-c-class-steam-locomotive
