Boy Kieran, that has been some amount of redevelopment! Nothing worse than having to rip up a lot of hard work, but great when you start to see the fruits of your labour. Hope it gives you trouble free running, looking forward to seeing some more great videos

Can I ask about that signal box in your most recent photos? Can't say I recognise it from any Irish companies but maybe that's just advertising my lack of knowledge !

Cheers,

Glover

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you.  The Signal Cabin is a representation of the old one at Antrim  prior to it been replaced by a concrete block house.  A similar Cabin was photographed at Templepatrick but I can't remember what book it was in.

Kirley Junction Realignment.

Some sidings laid, still to be decided what use I'll put them too.

Polystyrene and plaster bandages to produce a hill/cutting.

Scenics added.

When I first built this layout I made an exact copy of the Goods Shed at Clonmel. A particular feature of this building was the over hanging roof on one side giving cover to lorries loading or unloading. Unfortunately it was largely hidden from view so during this realignment I decided to widen the baseboard at this point to make it more visible.

Some trees added to Kirley Junction Station.

Scenics added to the cutting.

A few specimen trees added but I have to make a forest or two to add to them.

Scenics is the priority at the moment, specially trees.

Another batch of Sea Foam trees but they just disappear when you add them to the layout.

No hidden sidings Andy but a few new lines.  Will post an update soon now the major work has been completed.

Yet more track testing on Kirley Junction.  I used Irish Railway Models Plough Vans as they have extra width due to the ‘steps’ and in a lot of areas there is only minimal tolerances between the rolling stock and some scenic structures.

By the way I added some lead weigh to the plough van which has reduced the inferior lights flickering.

My main reason for doing the video is because it highlights areas of difficulty quicker than my ‘eyes’.

Hi Kieran,

I love the wee video of the Class 101.  I would add a crew, if only to avoid the impression that you have a "runaway train" - mmm, sounds like a cue for a song....  Understandable only to those of a certain vintage I suspect.

Layout is looking good as well.

Happy modelling,

Tom

Only a four car set at this time of year?  A relief train will surely be needed.

A suggestion, chop off the big coupling on one front power car (I'd leave one on the other end for brown vans or steam coaches/ BUT trailers etc. for an excursion etc.), but if you're not thinking of doing that , do both!!,   Stick on some assorted pipes, really helps the look of them.

The 4 car set was for the early Sunday morning service.

I believe this was the first conversion I ever undertook. I agree that big coupling on the Power Car could go; the assorted pipes you mention are they to go on the buffer beam?

Nice one Kieran. Love the AEC Railcar set footage. However I am slightly curious as to how you ended up with a "narrow bodied" version of a K 15? Would going back to page 1 of this thread give the answer?

From memory Steve I bought a K15 sides from Worsley Works and mounted it on on a RTR chassis while waiting on the AEC Railcar Set to be etched.  When the Railcar set eventually arrived and I built it using the Worsley Works chassis which was wide bodied and taller that the K15 I built on the RTR coach chassis.  Allen Doherty did not have any K15's in stock so I got one from SSM and built it using the chassis provided which matched up the Railcars.  Such is the tribulations of railway modelling.
