RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 12, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 12, 2015 Hello, and thank you all for your contributions. Tonight I have a photo' taken at York in June, 1976, of a class 47, 47054. Very typical of many 47's at that time. Very ordinary. Derekstuart
Rob, there's no such thing as an ordinary or typical brush 4. Each one is a miracle of the evolution of engineering. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 13, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 13, 2015 Thank you Derekstuart. Absolutely right. Great class of engine, and I just wish we could have an ''ultimate'' model of one some day. But I think BR was fairly sombre at that time - maybe a reflection on the times. With best regards, Rob.

60091
I've been catching up again tonight and was very interested to see the photos taken inside Melton cement works. With no relevance to any previous posts apart from the 08s at Botanic Gardens.... Does anyone remember this gem which stood beside the turntable for years? Photos taken in 1989 ...and a couple of shots of BGs famous "white" 03s. Paragon 1981? Botanic Gardens 1980 Thanks to everyone for continuing to post your East Yorkshire photographs. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 14, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2015 Thank you PinzaC55, and Alan for your photo's. They are very welcome, and add to this thread perfectly. I see yet another weighbridge at Flaxton which, again, would make a lovely model, and I do remember the 'white' 03's, but not so well the tank wagons at Botanic Gardens. Tonight I am posting a photo' of the one time goods warehouse at Pocklington. It is good that it has managed to survive over all the years. The photo' was taken in early 2008. JeffP
Been following this for a while now, then your shot of Botanic Gardens made me remember that I could also contribute. So...three shots of Botanic gardens depot on the last day. It closed that night. I still have the orange hi-viz tabard they gave me to walk round in, then told me to keep. It's marked BR(E). Can't remember the date, but late 80's? Only two locos on shed, and one sprinter unit, plus a couple of coaches. Derekstuart
If it's of any interest to anyone (and apologies if it's already been mentioned) that very faded 03 lives on to this day at Crewe Heritage Centre, so I've just noticed. It looks in a lot better condition now too.

It looks in a lot better condition now too. It certainly does Derek I had a brakevan ride with it there a few years ago,, the other two 03s from Botanic Gardens also survive, 03063 at the North Norfolk Railway and 03112 at the Nene Valley Railway unless they've moved again. Here's 03063 at Botanic in 1982. Rob
Derekstuart
Sorry to go a little o/t but there was talk of a 03 that lived at Scarborough during the summer and hibernated at York during the winter. I don't suppose anyone would know which it is? I can't find the photo on flikr. But in an alternate reality it was commandeered for Whitby after the shed was re-opened... RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 15, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 15, 2015 Thank you for those photo's of Botanic. They are so nostalgic, and full of atmosphere. Please keep them coming. Tonight, a couple of photo's that have a bit of a difference. One is on a class 110 'Calder Valley' DMU at Beverley station in June, 1988, and the other photo' is of Beverley station from Railway Street in the same year. The blue container in front of the station was there in connection with the work on the station roof if I remember correctly. So photo's that are somewhat different, but hopefully give views that might considered of interest historically. With regards, Rob.

Can't remember the date, but late 80's? Diesels 70's and 80's044.jpg Diesels 70's and 80's046.jpg Diesels 70's and 80's045.jpg Only two locos on shed, and one sprinter unit, plus a couple of coaches. As someone who worked at BG, the depot hasn't closed. It lost its allocation in late 1987with the remains units moving either to NL or the razor blade factory. The 350s had already moved on to YC and KY. The depot was relegated to light maintenance and fuel, the fuel and repairs and is now back to doing light maintenance, some light exams and fuel. The depot is now a former shadow of its self just having two covered roads which where the old stop roads. It under go some refurbishment a couple of years ago. When the brass came to look at BG at the introduction of 14x and 15x units they were quite amazed at the size of it but said that two156 wouldn't fit in the shed, and that NL would get the work , the repair shed at NL was then found to be too short and had to be extended.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 16, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 16, 2015 Thank you everyone for your latest contributions. As always they are most welcome. Tonight, I am looking at a photo', taken on 8th June, 2013, of the old goods warehouse at Stamford Bridge. It is remarkably intact. Indeed the station itself has survived quite well over the years since closure. With regards, Rob.

dvdlcs
Hello. Post #772 - pictures of 20 200 are apparently rather rare. Nice catch, albeit inadvertent no doubt :-) Did you take any others of this loco on that day? David.
