Re road closure, there are several alternative routes and for those of you coming from the west the Springbank West closure will have no effect.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, Springbank West will be reopened today, that's two days earlier than planned, either way, all should be in order for Saturday.

Great news, thanks.

Good evening everyone. Firstly I want to say how much I enjoyed the Hull Model Railways Show on Saturday, and many thanks to Mick for a friendly chat.

Tonight I have a photo’ from the mid fifties of a D49/1 on a service to York, from Hull, at Market Weighton. It’s hauling quite a good length train of corridor carriages.

This evening, I’ve found this photo’, also from Flickr, of Menthorpe Gate, on the Selby to Market Weighton line,  in the mid fifties. Sadly there’s no other information. It is interesting to see that both lines are flat bottom rail and not bullhead.

Good evening, and time for a further photo’ by jsb303 from Flickr. This one shows K1, 62007, on an excursion or additional service to either Bridlington or Filey Holiday Camp in c1958. It’s taken from one of the bracket signals at Market Weighton East Junction. It’s interesting to see how a single slip has been incorporated into the junction pointwork.

An intriguing piece of surviving (long disconnected) track at Barlby near the level crossing. It appears the diamond crossing there was built with proper formed check rail etc., but that was cut through at some point and a piece of plain rail added for the surviving through track (The angled one in the shot cutting through the horizontal). There also appears to be another odd bit of rail as the nearest of the horizontal rails has a weird looking break.

The other shot at the same location is the late afternoon Hull - Kings Cross service - unit number 180 111. (Photos taken Sunday 10th Nov)

EDIT - 14 Nov 2022 - searching failed to discover the originals, replacements now loaded.

The alignment of the more modern street, Aspen Close, (where my daughter lives) is roughly along the front of the open fronted building. (Engine shed?).

Just look at the sleeper ends on the left hand track. if we put trackwork like that on a model, folk would say it wasn't prototypical.
