There were A1's there in the last days of steam.

He cut them up and preserved ANOTHER black 5.

The last A1 at Drapers was 60145 St Mungo in autumn 1966, l cabbed it on the scrap line in 7 section Dairycoates in September 66. The loco arrived minus chimney and tender.

We got cabrides along the northernmost platform at York when I last saw St Mungo in steam, circa 1965. It was standby loco.

60151 was withdrawn on shed with two V2's.

Sad days.

Good evening, everyone. This evening I am posting a photo’ I have just found of Arram, which I took on the 11th June, 1988. You can see a signal, and part of the up side level crossing gate. Hopefully it will be of some use for modellers.

H&BRly G3, Alexandra Dock. Interim NERly livery.

G3 No142, 3142 Alexandra Dock.jpg

Quite an intriguing photo Mick. Usually it's the engine that looks care-warn, rundown and neglected, but in this shot the loco looks in pretty good nick (externally at least), whilst the area around it looks quite the opposite with what looks like a discarded pipe (behind the smoke-box) laid on a small embankment (or is it a pile of rubbish?), a small pile of pipes (or are they telegraph poles?) laid out behind the loco. Various bits of "scrap" strewn about in front of the loco and what looks like a brazier on its side, to say nothing of the rail nearest the camera that seems to have more keys missing than are in place! Very atmospheric, but a bu**er to replicate in a model.

Ian, I have several contemporary photo's of Alexandra shed, the whole area was a tip. It's reasonable to assume the pipe and other junk is part of the hydraulic system used on the dock.

Ian, another G£ and Alexandra Dock junk.

Another cracking photo Mick. Although described as "junk", no doubt the various "articles" strewn about once served a useful purpose, and if not damaged or worn, may serve a useful future purpose as "spares".

Good evening. Well, JeffP, unfortunately there’s no other information in the caption, but you could well be right.

Now, this evening, I have a photo’ by Richard Hart, on Flickr, of a WD Austerity, indentity unknown, in the early 1960’s, crossing the bridge over Chanterlands Avenue, on a west bound freight.

Good evening everyone. This evening I have a photo’ by  Syd Young on Flickr, from the 27th April, 1990, of 37003, that, unofficially, was named Tiger Moth, on a very lightweight freight train of one tank wagon at Ferriby. The train was the 6D85,  12.25 Saltend to Doncaster Belmont, Speedlink trip working.

This evening, I’ve found this photo’, by Phil Edwards, on Flickr, of D49/1, 62700, Yorkshire, on shed at Hull Botanic Gardens, in what may be the mid ‘50’s - no date is given, or any other information.

Reminds me of many of the photos in my Observer's Book of Railway Locomotives: a black and white photo of a steam loco I'd have little chance of ever seeing, resting on a shed I'd have no chance of visiting, on a lovely sunny day that rarely seemed to happen.

Good evening, everyone. Well, this evening I have a photo’, by Woolwinder, on Flickr, of a hybrid class 123 and 124 DMU at Gilberdyke, on the 23rd August, 1979. It’s working an up service to either Leeds or Doncaster.

Good evening. This evening, I have come across a photo’ by Syd Young, on Flickr, of Cottingham with two two car class 101 DMU’s on a Bridlington to Hull service. Car E56373 is leading as the formation arrives in the station on the 26th August, 1983.

Good evening. This evening, I have come across a photo’ by Patrick Welsh, on Flickr, of a very rare sight - a class 25 at Hull Paragon station, on what seems to be a Transpennine service to Manchester via Doncaster and Sheffield. It is 25109, on the 27th July, 1986. So anyone who has a Bachmann model or the forthcoming SLW model will be able to use them, occasionally, on a model based on Hull.

Good evening, everyone. This evening I have a photo’ which I took, at Hull Paragon station, on the 14th May, this year. It shows what is, currently, platform 1, and  class 158, 158867, in the siding adjacent to it. I was on my way to York that day. 153378 is just visible in the background.

I was signalman at Paragon for twelve years and I never signalled a train in or out of Platform 1.

Good evening. Thank you, Mick, that’s most interesting that you didn’t signal a train in or out of platform one. Only thing I can think of is that it cannot have been in regular use whilst you were in Paragon box.

Well, this evening, I have a photo’ by John Law, on Flickr, and it’s an undated, but clearly NER era, photo’ of Saltmarshe.

I do recall a trip to York back in August 1985 as a youngster, sat behind the drivers cab looking forward.  I distinctly remember the 101 DMU stabled in platform 1.
