RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 19, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2016 Hello, everyone. Just one photo' tonight. It shows a class 142, unidentified, on a down train at Beverley North LC, in late May 1989. Notice the Bristol VR Bus as well. dvdlcs
Interesting position of the police car. Wonder if it was on a blue light run until the barriers came down? Looks like a Ford Fiesta and possibly an old combination of the police sign and light on the roof, although as a C plate would make it new circa 1985. Oh, and there is a Pacer in the foreground. Back on topic :-)
lmsforever
Amazing how generally run down down things look and we thought it all so cutting edge the pacer looks awful as does the VR never liked them .
Lord Flashheart
Amazing how generally run down down things look and we thought it all so cutting edge the pacer looks awful as does the VR never liked them .I'd prefer the Fiesta out of the 3, preferably in XR2 form. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 20, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2016 Thank you, Mick, for that photo' of Beverley North. A good comparison. Tonight two contrasting photo's. The first one shows a class 150 at Beverley, and the next photo' shows York station through the front of a class 101 DMU. Class 150 DMU, 150203 at Beverley station, June, 1989. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 21, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 21, 2016 Thank you, Dave, for that photo'. It is always good when you feel able to make a contribution to this thread. I have taken many similar photo's myself. It is my local station. The contrast between how things were back in 1989 and then in 2009 is quite remarkable. The road is on a totally different alignment, the clerestory on the top of the overall roof is completed, and there are trees to be seen. Plenty of other smaller differences as well. With warmest regards, Rob.

lmsforever
The photo of York through the cab of the 101 is excellent it was great to look forward and see the line ,down our way the drivers used to pull the blinds down miserable buggars. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 23, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2016 Hello everyone. A quiet weekend! It was all a bit different back in late June, 1989. In Beverley station back then there was still the original NER station seats to be seen, along with the lovely station clock - which is still there today - and the platforms had not yet been raised up. In the photo' you can see a 2-car class 101 DMU entering from Hull on it's way to Bridlington in place of yet another failed Pacer unit! This happened all too often at this time. With regards, Rob.
SwissRailPassion
I note the Flemingate diagram says 'To York' at one end.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 24, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 24, 2016 I have been wondering about that myself. Surely Bridlington would be more appropriate, or even Driffield. Why York, so mysterious! With regards, Rob.
devonseasider
Afraid "real life" got in the way of enjoyment so haven't been able to post anything for a few days but have been looking in. Lots of really interesting stuff - makes my efforts seem even worse than I thought! Anyway, here are the last couple of photos from my Dairycoates visit on 3rd November 1963. Apologies again for the lack of quality - hope they may be of some interest despite this. First a couple of diesel shunters around the outside turntable followed by a visiting 04 inside the shed. The next family trip across the Pennines was in February '64 & I "did" Dairycoates again. I remember photographing some of the B16s but the film got damaged many years ago. I've got a couple of prints that I may be able to get a half-decent scan from, but don't hold your breath! If I can't do anything with those, I've got some from later in the year.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 24, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 24, 2016 Thank you, Graham, for those photo's. They are really superb, and please don't worry about the quality of them, mine are usually much worse! Please post more when you are able to. Tonight I cannot show any photo's since there is an uploading problem. I will try again tomorrow. Sorry everyone. Regards, Rob.
devonseasider
Springhead, looking south east, undated, but believed to be mid '50's Thanks to Keith Smith for original print. Springhead Sidings(1) - Copy.jpg Mick - just trying to get my bearings on this picture. I never went round Springhead although I know where it was - mother's relatives lived almost on the Calvert Lane/Springbank West junction, close to what I vaguely remember as an old cinema (I was only 3 or 4 at the time) and I can recall lots of smoke & shunting noises when we visited. In the background of the picture, beyond the lines of wagons, there's a row of houses running left to right. Would that be Calvert Lane?
micknich2003
Calvert Lane runs from left to right of the picture, almost on the centre line. The houses you ref to are the short dead ends off Anlaby Road. The picture house was Priory, closed many years ago and became a "Super Market", it's still there, and presently "Under Development". RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 25, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2016 Hello everyone. Tonight I have a photo' of Walton Street LC taken from the front of class 101 DMU. It dates from late June 1989. You can see the portacabin that replaced the signal box. And it has now gone. With regards, Rob.
