That's a great bridge Neil.

What I like about it is that it's an obvious later addition that cuts straight across the old existing infrastructure, just as so many real flyovers do.

The railway must have had fun whilst they built it though :)

Very nice Ben, Stonework and Brickwork, equally as good.

The brick one looks a bit lost with nothing connecting to it, but I'm sure you have that in hand.

Nice work, I like the white patch for the sighting of the signal.

Here's two very different ones from me, the Stone built road bridge, and a cast iron footbridge.

Both scratchbuilt in Styrene and painted with Humbrol Acrylics.

And the two together in situ:

Morning all,

One from me.  A road over rail bridge inspired by, and based on, the Ashfield Road bridge at the western end of Salisbury.

This is the original:

The model is not supposed to be a direct copy ( - the original is rail over road!) but it is designed to capture the details and styling, such as there is.  There is a long way to go yet - I always seem to stall these days when it comes to applying paint - but the road surface has received a couple of initial coats to get things moving.  I plan to incorporate spear-tip iron fencing at the right-hand end to include some variation.  the model is predominantly heavy art card overlaid with slaters plasticard; the girders are Wills, as are some of the smaller detailing items.  The concrete reinforcement on the right hand end is offcuts of wood moulding, overlaid with sandpaper.

Just need to think about a suitable bus now!.....

Happy modelling,

Paul

Hi ben ,thankyou ,it's fun foam sheets

post-5078-0-17745900-1442685744.jpg

I saw an article in BRM that andy York did With them his road was to 4mm but mines n gauge and it looks good at that scale aswell ,I've a bit to do on the road ,drains, markings but I do like the finished ,I sprayed the sheet with a grey and a brown and a few other colours

I used A 4 sheets and you can see where I joined them (hopefully once I've done you'll not lol) but I found places like The Range have A3 sheets next time I'll be using those lol

P.s the pavements Are made from the same stuff

Just like the giant flyover they built through thornaby/tees yard in the 1970s!

Just found this thread and there are some very impressive bits of modelling.  My new layout, Lancaster Green Ayre has 2 bridges as scenic breaks and another two included in the layout.  None of them are finished yet but I thought folk might like to see them as they are at present. All are real structures and have been built from original plans plus other source material.  Some are in their correct location and others have been brought nearer to the station to act as a scenic break.

The east end of the layout has a lattice girder footbridge that's moved 400 yards west but makes a nice break before the backscene.

The Castle Branch is carried on a viaduct, which I have had to curve to fit into the layout.  Part of it is removable to avoid three awkward baseboard joints.

This one is the one that carries the West Coast Main Line in real life but has moved about 500 yards east to make a break.

It will have a footbridge attached to it's face in due course.

The main bridge is in the middle of the layout and is Greyhound Bridge that now carries the northbound A6 .  Hopefully I'll get the side girders complete, painted and installed before November as well as finishing the overhead gantries with their distinctive shape.
