juggy0_1
Ive bought some G scale LGB bolster wagons to which i'm going to fit sprung buffers, screw couplings, repainting, weathering etc, as my locos and track are in the darkest recesses of the loft and without wanting to get covered in cobwebs and dead flies before the weekend i have nothing to measure against, does anyone know what the measurement is from buffer center to track height for gauge 1 please.. thanks Darren
RMweb Gold markjj Posted September 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 29, 2015 35mm according to the Gauge 1 association Standards PDF that's on their website. That will be for standard Gauge Gauge 1 not LGB standards though.
hartleymartin
Scale height was about 3'5" give or take an inch or so. So the question is whether you are working to 1:32 or 10mm scale. Buffer centres should be about 33mm for 1:32 and about 35mm for 10mm scale. The width between the buffers varied from 5'8" to 5'10" depending on the railway. I think RCH settled on 5'9". About 54.8mm in 1:32 and 57.5mm in 10mm. Hope that helps.
hartleymartin
Considering that the differences between 1/4" (1:48) and 7mm (1:43.5) scales is closer to 10% and the difference between HO (1:87) and OO (1:76) is about 15%, the difference between 10mm scale (1:30.5) and 1:32 at just under 5% seems negligible.
