Grasshopper John
Not sure if I'm in the right place, but while walking across the railway bridge in Millom I just glanced over the wall and was surprised to see this beauty, although I'm not a diesel fan It was impressive. What a rumble it made when it pulled out of the station Edit Thanks to my daughter Rachel for having a smart phone and a daft Dad.
28XX
Sadly not a Deltic but a class 37. Both of which are diesel electric. Good spot and phot tho.
RMweb Premium Flying Pig Posted October 11, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2015 Not a Deltic but a Class 37. Both were built by English Electric in the early 1960s, but the 37's power plant is a lot more conventional (EE medium speed V12 diesel). You'll know when you experience the true lunacy that is the Napier Deltic: BTW neither of these is a diesel hydraulic (both have electric transmission), but it doesn't hurt to remind the Swindon crowd what proper traction is like from time to time.
