Looking good Tim. I saw some pics of it through Wellingborough (I used to live there).

Tornado through 36E this afternoon; looked superb but, of course, isn't a preservation product/project.

Looking fine passing the Orient Express at Rotherham too, albeit on Railtour Standard Time, approx 1hr late, and in slightly claggy/sticky/humid conditions, the sun trying its best to break through.

The owner of the Orient Express was out taking photos too, for publicity purposes. He also said he'd applied to Network Rail to fence off the platform edge so he could have outdoor dining, but that they weren't too keen.

A BTP officer on a motorbike came round on an inspection tour a while before it was due, peering over bridges, presumably looking for tresspassers. He didn't stop to chat.

This new-found public enthusiasm for railway trespass only serves to illustrate that the folk which for years considered themselves a cut above railway enthusiasts were in fact closet nerds.  :mosking:

It's on the move again, York NRM to Crewe Heritage, left York at 11:29, 31 early, headcode 5Z72, due Crewe 17:09

I'll say no more as I'm sure that is enough info.

Scotsman did Crewe to Bristol yesterday. From the footage posted on YouTube it was obvious that the Class 47 on the back was giving the train a hefty shove on the uphill sections at least. Quite glad I didn't bother to go and see it.

Is there any way of telling which steam tours (if any?) do not have diesel assistance, as I would like to patronise mainline steam, but I'm reluctant to spent a large sum of money for tickets on trains which are not being properly hauled by the advertised steam loco?

Try a trip to Ireland. None of the RPSI steam tours have a diesel attached. Details on their website www.steamtrainsireland.com

I own Flying Scotsman so please stop being rude about it.

In fact, it will be visiting my place on Saturday. All welcome except the naysayers and those that do not like the Insurance Policy attached to the rear of the train.

Passing today through Prestatyn 7 minutes late on the Crewe - Holyhead leg of The London Euston - Holyhead.

Happy to say everyone well behaved and staying behind the fence and off the tracks.

Great to see one of the local schools brought some children down to the line side, all very well behaved and enjoyed watching the train pass through.

Considering this was an east coast line loco, it spends a lot of it's time in the west.

Ah, but going east would just be preaching to the converted, instead of rescuing the heathens.

(Do the forum rules on religion also apply to loco designer allegiances?)
