Ah well, he has done a very nice job in my opinion. It's a very interesting model. Thanks for all the brilliant pictures.

Gloucester Road
This is Gordan's first time hauling a locomotive, all under the watchful eye of his boss. The boss is aware that the chains might be a tad over size and the manner in which the load is being secured might be a bit unorthodox, but Gordan needs to learn and the best way is to make mistakes.
Gloucester Road
Have started another diorama. this one is going to be set in winter. The first bits of the construction are over on my other thread, but as it is a diorama makes more sense to be here. Double track, raised mainline with a field in the front, bridge on the right-hand side with a raised road, and backside of house to the rear. finescale track, I really like the look of this. As good as you can make the code 55 look this is just in a different league. cable trunking from n-scenic scale model scenery trackside platforms.
Gloucester Road
In order to figure out the height of the road and embankment, I had to complete the bridge. R012a from Scalescenes was purchased. I struggled with this build, for some reason, it is a simple build but could not get into a rhythm. In the end it turned out ok. 5
DavidMcKenzie
The end results looking very good for something you struggled with. Most of us would be more than happy with that on a good day. Great modeling as always. All the best, Dave
Gloucester Road
Started to mess around with ballast today, need to get that done before rest of landforms are finished. The bridge and card are removable at the minute so I can get under the bridge. I'm not sure what to do about the rail, they had a black wash applied during assembly to tone down the metal shiny look, I think they look ok. My concern if I do a rust colour they will overwhelm and really stick out.

My concern if I do a rust colour they will overwhelm and really stick out. I don't know if it helps or hinders, but I did the track below with a rust base and picked all the details like the rail clips and then dulled it all down with a very dark grey wash which not only made the colours less bold, but also emphasized the 3d detail of the rails. Not perfect by any means, but I was happy with the end result and it gives something to run on which looks realistic enough to not distract from the trains themselves. Gloucester Road
Appreciate the info, have been following your build. Bit the bullet today and glued the ballast down, with a tint in in the glue/water mix. Then used powders to tint the rails and some on the ballast. I had previously picked out the chairs and weathered the sleepers and didnt want to loose that. Some really rusty rails laid in between the rails. Think it turned out ok. I had to remind myself while I was pondering the ballasting that it was supposed to be a light snowy scene, so likely snow on track and ballast anyway. DavidMcKenzie
Looks very good. I forgot about the snow, of course that'll cover it all a lot. How deep will you make it? The rusty rails laid between the rails is a nice little additional detail. All the best, Dave
Gloucester Road
Im thinking a light dusting, sort of the first snows of the winter, not the hard packed deep stuff we have here in New Hampshire at the minute.

Gloucester Road
Knocked this test 4x4 diorama together. wanted one side of the hedge to be grassy and the other to be a field with some grass and mostly dirt. The original intent of this was to test out "snow" that is next.
