RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 15, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 Hi Ali, I can scan the instructions for you if your struggling to find them. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 15, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 Had an hour in the garage this morning with some matt varnish. Both projects had the decals sealed. Cruel close-up before and after shots of Howe. The KWA as also had small Yellow squares of plasticard added for the shackle mounts. Work also started on modifying a Bulldozer that may end up as a load on the wagon.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 (edited) Nice work Phil. I modified a bull dozer by narrowing the blade. The ends still needed to be painted when I took the pic. Cheers, Mick Edited November 15, 2015 by newbryford
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 15, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 I got as far as dismantling the parts and cutting the blade down to a more suitable width. I may try to re-fit the blade at an angle, rather than parallel to the front of the body like the original model was, some of the reference pics i'm working from have that style of machine on them. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 The dozer I bought had a rotatable blade. Somewhere, I have a loading diagram for it. Cheers, Mick
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 15, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 Looks like we've both got the same diagram, 4 straps lengthways at the back, 3 widthways at the front !! Cheers, Phil.

pitbull1845
Some lovely work there Phil, I'll have the 20's and the finished KWA thanks.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 15, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2015 TBH, because the body of the KWA is in one piece, it feels more like a detailing project than a kit building one (with the exception of the bogies.) That's in no way meant as a criticism, I think its a lovely kit to work with, and quite suitable for anyone nervous about having a go at something like this. Cheers, Phil. RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 16, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2015 Started the weathering process on Howe. I haven't used powders much, so I'm still learning !! Cheers, Phil.

RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 17, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Howe is back together & waiting for airbrush weathering now. My 036 is LL, Grey roof & Red bufferbeams, 024 is LL, Black roof & Red bufferbeams, & snowploughs. (It was a repaint from a revised NSE liveried one, way before Hornby announced it!!) I'll take some more pics of the fleet later this week. Cheers, Phil. Edited November 17, 2015 by Phil mc
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 20, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 20, 2015 Hoping to get Howe finished over the weekend, but in the meantime here's a couple of renumbered and lightly weathered 66's. There are differences between them, one having the 'First' logos missing. I had to do 726, my Dad is a Wednesday fan ! Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 22, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 22, 2015 Made a bit of progress with the KWA. The Bulldozer has been rebuilt, I decided to keep the blade parallel to the body, but I have transposed the sections inside the tracks, to shorten the sidearms. (just to make it different to how it was bought!) Weathering with 'dark earth' powder. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 22, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 22, 2015 Howe is back together I'll take some more pics in daylight (if we ever get any!) Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 23, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2015 The KWA is built, I would say 'finished', but I'm never quite sure of that until I've seen it running round a layout ! Cheers, Phil.
Pegleg90
Nice work there Phil! cheers for the instructions, looking forward to trying to make mine anywhere near the standard of yours! Cheers Ali
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted November 24, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 24, 2015 So, thanks to a recent delivery of transfers from Railtec transfers (cheers Steve!), I can turn this pile of parts into a cement train. Or more correctly, add some Vee tanks to the half-rake I've already got. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted December 3, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 3, 2015 Managed to get the transfers on and varnished over the last few days. Still need to source some brake discs and replacement handwheels for these. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted December 4, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 4, 2015 All back on their chassis', just waiting for weathering. Cheers, Phil.
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted December 5, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 5, 2015 First stage of weathering complete, airbrushing the chassis area. I'll use powders for the body area. Cheers, Phil.
Wayne 37901
Looking good there Phil, Are you aware of the different design codes with the PCAs? I did a fair bit of research on them when modelling some Albright and Wilson versions. Some interesting variations in the PCA fleets. Cheers
RMweb Premium Phil Mc Posted December 6, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 6, 2015 I'm not too familiar with the variations, I've just added the detail parts to the models, and copied the transfer positions from the pics I have of the individual wagons. 2 or 3 of this batch of wagons are repainted Albright & Wilson models. A couple of them started out Yellow. Cheers, Phil.
