RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 14, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2015 Funny how he lowered the price the day after I sent him a message saying he was trying scam people. TBH a scam is dishonest, fraud or swindle. He wasn't doing any of those. (flame suit at the ready) There may be doubt in the moral issue of the price, but it's a free market. If people are stupid enough or too lazy not to check around, then that's their problem. Cheers, Mick

Cheers, Is there a defintion of the word scam that is universally accepted within a legal framework rather than a term defined by a dictionary ? Free market.? Stupid and lazy people ? Who judges their credentials for the job description ? You ? Me ? Their problem ? Yours and mine.L Mick

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2015 Yeah ok fair enough. I felt he was trying to scam people but maybe I was wrong. Not really a scam - he was upfront about his price and what he was selling. A scam is where there is a deliberate intention to mislead the buyer. No Decorum
All points taken on board but if the seller reduced his price so drastically, perhaps *he* accepted that he was scamming.
RJS1977
Or maybe he just realised he had more chance of selling it at a lower price.
RMweb Gold Revolution Mike B Posted November 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2015 I have no issue with people seeing a business opportunity but at least wait until they've all been sold. At least he'd stand more of a chance of selling it at an inflated price!! But then some people are just plain stupid
Lochnagar
It's been the same for years, was looking at a model rail Network Rail 37 for £250 on eBay several years ago, and I decided to check with model rail that they had actually sold out as they listing said. Turns out they still had some, £90 posted. Always pays to check.
RJS1977
What it does do though is deprive someone who genuinely wants one of the opportunity of buying it (other than at a grossly inflated price). No different really to ticket touts.
RMweb Gold Ely_South Posted November 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2015 At the other end of the price spectrum, I noticed that DC Kits had a Legomanbiffo sound fitted one for £325 at Spalding at the weekend. That's basically free sound fitting and Charlie's making a loss on postage. Bargain! Rob
47423
Mine arrived today and looks fantastic, and also thank you to Sandra for checking on my order first thing this morning. Not many left now!
John Urquhart
I have one to which I have installed sound, a driver and minimal weathering, for running (and running, and running); and another, for putting in the display cabinet, for admiring, and going "aaaaaaah" at. RMweb Gold Revolution Mike B Posted December 6, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 6, 2015 £600!? What are these people on?? There's an FGW buffet on ebay for £99 too! Maybe I need to put my complete train on there..... I could retire from work 15 years early hahahaha.
RMweb Gold Ely_South Posted December 7, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2015 This includes a so-called rare buffet that cost me £26.50 at Warley last week You did well - I hunted Warley on the Sunday for one of those....! In the fortnight following release of Harry Patch, the FGW buffet has gone from freely available to silly prices.... I ordered one on the 6th Nov from a retailer who will remain nameless, but they cancelled my order two weeks later - leaving me in the lurch. I don't suppose you want to sell it? LOL
LocomotionatShildon
There are still some for sale from us here at Locomotion. I had a some put by for shop and telephone sales and have put most of those on the website now. Only £220!! plus p&p of course!
Hue Jarse
Has anyone else bought the "Harry Patch" HST and some coaches to go with it and found the coaches to be a noticeably different colour to the dummy power car? I bought a rake of coaches to go with mine and the power car looks blue compared to the coaches which seem to look more of a deep purple.
John Urquhart
Hi Hue Mmmm... got me worried. I have Harry, and I bought a rake of FGW Mk3s (before prices got silly). There is a difference but it's tiny and I hadn't noticed so, no problems for me. John
Hue Jarse
Perhaps I'm being too fussy although the difference seems quite marked to me. I'll try and take a photo tomorrow in daylight and put it up here to show what i mean.
John Urquhart
So, Hue, what's the answer to your Great Western blue daylight dilemma?
Hue Jarse
Perhaps I'm just expecting too much but I think you'll agree that there is definitely a difference.
RMweb Gold Red Fox Posted December 8, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2015 Is the coach from the first batch of FGW neon mk3' or the most recent release? Lighter was not the way Hornby needed to go with FGW purple!
