A little more work today. I fitted the doors. The end door opposite the toilet appears to be missing something. Looks like I need a piece of brass to enclose the door side by the white metal connecting door.I will look through my box and see if I missed anything.

Soldering the console was fun. Some very odd angles to work in.

I think next weekend I will make a start on the chassis floor and also drill out the space for the destination panel and the lights.

No drama so far with the build.

Dougal.

Anyone know if the 142 had a toilet in each coach or just one for the two car set?

I have been working on the underframe for the 142. A bit of guess work required. I have tried to follow a few photos, but finding clear images has been a challenge. No one appears to have turned a real 142 upside down which is annoying.
I have also drilled out the lights.

Dougal.

Ok, a few pictures of progress so far.

I have lowered the layout by 10 inches and made it a foot narrower so that my grand daughters can play trains easier.

I have used shaper sheet for the steep embankments.

loads to do yet.

wiring up the cobalt classic motor to an S lever was not frustrating at all- honest guv.

Is there a revised trackplan Dougal

Paul R

Hello Paul. Sort of revised plan. I have simplified matters with 2 roads with a turnout each creating a total of 4 roads; slurry loading siding, Railfreight and bagged clay siding, station siding for parcels, station siding for DMU’s.

This gives the option of running a mix of freight and for my granddaughters to experience the fun of driving trains with lights and sounds. One of my Grandaughters is particularly interested in the layout and I want to nurture this interest.

Having purchased a few books about Cornish Branchlines and seeing really short Trains like a class 50 and 2 clay hoppers, a class 08 with 1 hopper and a brake van and a class 25 with a TEA, Clay Tiger and a VGA, I can run pretty much all my stock and it will be mostly prototypical.

I will be building a few clay Tigers and silver bullets soon enough. I just need to finish my Pacer unit first.

I will post some photos of the Pacer later in the week.

A bit more progress. I have started the road bridge. This is by the fiddle yard and acts as a scenic break. I have yet to build the girder sides and also add a phone box and street lamp.

The Freight sidings are coming along nicely.

The pacer has wheels and waits for my further attention.

Currently working on some arcade machines.

Oh, it came in a box with 03 written on it. Never really gave it much thought before.

Not all 03's had the flower pot chimney. Some had the conical ones on Dougal's model so it may still be an 03 but I can't speak for that particular number
