Evening my dear Friends.....

Hope all are well and your respective week has got off to a good start, didn't half hammer it down at the nursery this lunchtime, hail, lightning, thunder and local flooding....but it's cooling off and breaking down into autumn we should be used to it...?

Brief update this evening, have focused attention on one point, not pun intended, and will radiate out and along the tracks and ballast weathering from there.....used a slightly darker, dark earth and sleeper grime mix greatly thinned and applied with a brush between the sleepers and cess to give mucky effect in a very well used and neglected yard.....likely to add some grassy and weed areas later if I can pluck up the courage...?

The station will be brought into the frame shortly, prior to that though there is still much to do regarding the point control for further switches, the tube control for that will have to be brought beneath the intended platforms and station building, much to think about and tackle yet....

Good stuff, I've never been to Beer. Did you get any photos of the inside of the lighthouse?

The lighthouse is the Old Upper Lighthouse on Portland Bill, prior to the existing larger red and white one on the very tip of Portland....(the lower, original lighthouse is now a bird watching tower), both are non-operational, Les the owner has converted his into a very nice circular viewing room complete with wonderful, huge magnification naval scope to provide excellent views of shipping.....

Les is a very talented modeller, believe he has (or had) a large 3 rail layout, sadly his recent ill health has greatly limited his abilities....

and if like myself you are an amateur meteorologist......the observations for Portland Bill are taken from the met station in Fran's garden!

Evening my good friends.....'Welcome to autumn eh'...?

Just an update on a modification that I had been contemplating and finally took the courage to attempt to try as it had been 'niggling' away in my mind for some time, and wouldn't have happened if I hadn't just not got on with it...!

This is more for atmosphere than anything else as the true clearances would most certainly been greater than I have here, but I am happy with the overall effect it has created.....hope you consider it is an improvement also.....

I have remodelled a siding into accepting small two wagon goods with a Bachmann low relief goods unloading shed, removed and reformed the back balsa wood screen to allow the said Bachmann item to slot into position....this to have  a 8' brick wall effect.....will stick with this but, comments appreciated as always guys please...

Evening my friends.....

This evenings update concerns the hour spent on the continued development work on the 12' wall around the private coal merchants yard and down to the (low relief) station goods shed.......

another couple of sections of wall have been cut to size and fixed to the scene break, both given a dark earth wash, the 'sky' also given a wash of artex as a base for further work at a later stage....

Evening Guys....Hope all are well and looking forward to your respective weekends...?

It's the SVR Autumn Steam Gala, so with the weather set fair for tomorrow at least and with three superb visiting Southern locos, together with the home fleet it should be great, will be travelling the cushions tomorrow myself and a volunteer stint on Sunday.....should be good...!

A quick update this evening, after watching (what I thought tonight was entertaining again but somewhat lacklustre) The Great Model Railway Challenge......an hour spent lengthening the backscene wall around where the station platforms begin...will update as further progress is made......

Take care, 'have a great weekend my friends'....

It's the "scratch build challenge" that sets my teeth on edge. Given who the judges are you would think that they would know better. That and the idiot presenter both need to go. He was rubbish in car SOS as well so at least he's consistent eh!? It's a bit cr*p but it's all we've got I guess. At the very least it's got people interested in railway modeling so it's not all bad.

Regards Lez.
