BobM
Evening guys..... Just a slight update this evening..... Whilst there is a little further slight filing to be done to neaten some of the joins to allow a tighter fit......I have done the preliminary cutting from plasticard forming the intended back walls to the footbridge gangway span and just to see what the effect may be to the look of the bridge, have just placed these in position with a bit of blu-tack (other fixatives are available)....... Currently I have don't have a light stone enamel paint to colour the panels, so until that is resolved (which won't be too long) I won't be able to obviously paint them, fix into position permanently and finally blue the bridge together.... So far, if I don't muck this up, I am quite 'chuffed' with this and truly amazed that I've actually managed it and moreover that I had the courage to start hacking away at the two Bachmann models in the first place! Regards always..... Bob Edited November 30, 2019 by BobM 11
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted November 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 30, 2019 Would you not paint them cream Bob? To match the woodwork on the end of the stair canopies? Regards Lez.

BobM
Hi Another muse for you regarding the bridge.... Taking inspiration from Wiggoforgolds wonderful work on Yalerton....thinking of adding wind screens to the corners of the bridge landings at the top of the steps, that were seen on many GWR examples.....? Wiggo's build below... Perhaps adding plasticard here to mine...? Just a thought...quite like the effect personally and makes design sense...? RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted November 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 30, 2019 Sounds like a plan Bob. I'm not really a GW man mate. Although I do like some of the DF locos and the broad gauge of course but not all things BG were GWR. The Midland didn't tend to cover their footbridges as far as I know, no doubt now someone will post a pic of a covered Midland footbridge just to prove me wrong. There is a prototype for everything after all. Regards Lez.

BobM
Evening Guys.... Hope that your respective weekends have been good and everyone is well....? Have added the extra 'windscreen' pieces to the end steps at the top of the landings, forming these from small squares of plasticard...cannot insert the central landing piece until the bridge is joined together. RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted December 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 1, 2019 Looks great* (*understatement) I do like how you’ve taken ‘off the shelf’ items and made it your own. I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished article I’m beginning to wish I’d got more than one platform now Chris

I'm amazed I have the courage to start hacking away at something to fashion it into something else! Cheers for all the kind comments.....I am going to attempt to join the two together (when the appropriate epoxy glue has been purchased) next when I've completed the final filing , then the joins will have to be filled, finally painted up.....but that may be some way down the line as I'll have to start connecting the remaining points to te wire control, so I'm going to have to regain the practice of wire in tube....! Have a good week..... Regards always... Bob Edited December 1, 2019 by BobM
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted December 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 1, 2019 I remember when you were terrified of wire in the tube Bob. You've come a long long way since then mate. Regards Lez. 1

RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted December 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 1, 2019 It looks fab Bob. Much better than two seperate bridges isn't it? Regards Lez.

Indeed yes, thank you for the initial suggestion to have a single span across the three platforms....have gained a greater understanding of modelling as a result and a feeling that everything doesn't need used as they come straight out of the box? Have agood week..... Regards always. Bob Edited December 2, 2019 by BobM 1
BobM
Evening Guys..... There's something very intriguing regarding this bridge I'm currently working on, seemingly it appears the more that I attempt to ensure a closer fit, and this is achieved, the further I want to make the marrying up even neater.....prior to this I would have been happy with the initial result and moved on...? I don't want to 'over egg the pudding' as it were by getting as neat a fit as I can now without relying too much on filling any gaps later but really feel that I've gained something positive from this process? Nearly there and closer to a stage where I can consider painting, Regards always, Bob Edited December 2, 2019 by BobM

Haa Haa Lez, I joined Scale 4 many months ago just for the superb magazine, the societies website for the information and hugely helpful advice provided.....sleep soundly my dear pal, your perfectly safe, I'm not venturing into those waters just yet a while....! Still...trying to obtain a closer fit on the roof Regards always Bob Edited December 2, 2019 by BobM
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted December 2, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 2, 2019 One of the things that makes a good modeler Bob, is knowing when to stop. If I were you I would stop filing, stick it together and then fettel it from there. A little filling and shaping followed by a good paint job should just about do it mate. It's a shame we don't live a bit closer to each other Bob. If we did I would suggest a collaboration on an exhibition layout based on Tewksbury shed and quay branch in P4. I love finescale track building. I just don't have the space for what I want in P4. Regards Lez.
BobM
Hi.... Will probably place an order for required paints from Precision Paints next week in readiness for final assembly and repainting in the near future. Will turn my attention to next phase of attaching control wires to the points across the station area, so that I can get the platforms formed up and in position....? Regards always... BobM
Hi.... Been a bit busy with one thing or another, mainly at the nursery what with Christmas stuff and all that, so layout has 'gone quiet' for now.....but will resume soon.... As an aside maybe I should alter my profile pic, as just for fun went through the questions on a friends phone app that 'calculated' what Disney character you would be...? Look what my personal traits lead us to.....! Quite happy really Regards always.... Bob 4
BobM
Hi.... In the January issue of Hornby magazine there's an insert on tips for modelling the Western Region, .....right up my street...? Regards always.... Bob
380John
Just having a flick through mine Bob. Admittedly I've not read it properly yet, but it seems a few western region locos have been missed off the list at the back perhaps? The venerable Manors produced by bachman and earlier by mainline appear to be missing? John
