Good to hear from you Bob, nice to spend some time in the garden in this weather. A garden railway in a proper sunny British summer garden sound lovely. So that's an idea worth exploring.

I had a go of sketching a collett mogul at glyndyfdrwy Station a few weeks back. Wasn't bad, but yours is looking much better! Good luck with it.

Take care, stay safe

Hi Bob,

Good to hear from you! and I'm glad you are able to keep busy at this time, it's much harder if you can't!!

That sketch of Arley is looking fantastic!! I watched Oh Doctor Beeching! through last week, and that is the closest I have ever gotten to seeing Arley, and from what I can tell you have captured it brilliantly!!

Stay safe, and I hope we hear from you again soon!

Hi Guys....

Hope all are well....safe and secure...?

Just an update....may be doing a little further ballasting on Cambrian Street hopefully soon along with additional substantive work.....

however, I have not been 'idle'......

......even though still going into the nursery five days a week (as it would be a very long hose pipe if I had to 'work from home')

......two days a week have been spending the available 'good weather and enforced 'stay at home (non SVR) time', ......... tidying up the back garden, which after 17 years of Arley volunteering duty induced 'neglect', and (working for 36 years at a horticultural nursery I was 'ashamed at the state of my own back garden had become ) over the time Arley station gardens were receiving all my attentions....

.....and 'settling my head' with filling out some of the shading on the 'Arley doodle'.....

......looks as if life may become busier soon if the nursery is allowed to reopen to footfall customers?

Strange how everything in my life has seemingly  always  been ' a work in progress' :D

Stay safe please guys....

Regards always

Bob

The garden looks very good Bob.

I hope you are well! Kimmy and I are both fully recovered from the plague and have been enjoying the nice weather before we go back to work on tuesday. We've even managed to get some sort of planting done in the garden. I managed to get some bedding plants in Morrisons and last years violas self seeded a couple of trays worth of small plants which I fished out when I was clearing the beds out and Kimmy found some nice clematis plants online which were a little pricey but well established and look good with the existing ones, one of which is quite mature now and puts out an enormous amount of blooms. I almost killed it last year when I moved it into the new planters and even then it managed to put on a show, this year it's really magnificent. I'll take some pics and post them.

Regards Lez.

Looking very nice Bob!! Sounds like you are staying busy which is good in these times!!

I'm trying to get the kids out in the garden at the moment, got some wildflower seeds for them to plant and nurture, but so far there is no motivation for there for them, so looks like I will be doing all the gardening for another year!! My son on the other hand has had lots of modelling mojo, and has made huge progress on his scenics, as well as repairing some of his older locos, I posted some pictures of his work on his Triang Caley Single to my Oak Hill thread yesterday.

I must say I am looking forward to a return to normal at the moment!!

Stay safe my friend,

Gary

Hi Guys,

Hope all are well and safe.......

Now that the 'lockdown garden revamp is complete'........(almost).....evening time can be spent 'tatting' to keep under control......if as is hoped a resumption of possibly a day at least will be permitted back on the SVR at Arley in the not too distant future......

...and of course

.........the serious stuff can be revisited soon hopefully?

Evening Guys...Hope all are well....?

A few further images of how I see the basic structure and layout of Cambrian Street station itself to be panning out....undoubtedly there'll be additions, deletions and tweaks as we go along though......

Comments appreciated as always......

Evening my friends.....

Here's an image of Cambrian Street signal box, the intention is that the rear wall will be wrapped around it.

Evening Guys.....

Hope you're all well....?

Have fashioned a retaining wall out of some scrap pieces of walling for next to the signal box....intend to infill and then produce a small grassy bund covering....any suggestions on how to produce this effect easily...?

As it is such a small area, leaning towards using a paper mache technique with newspaper/ pva...

Yeh it looks nice Bob. However you will need to think about the locking room entrance for the rods and wires it ain't doing no good where it is up in the air, it needs to be at track level.

Hi....

Mea culpa!

Hope you're well my friend....

Yes, I'd did realise the error of my ways only last evening when I could see that the box was up in the air somewhat...so will have to correct that faux pax.

Looks good that Bob, if you were to have a long enough canopy on the platform, you could have the signal on a bracket a little bit like the one at llangollen Station if you are aware of that one?

If possible could you tell me your construction methods for your platforms please?

Hope you're well

Hi Thank you for your kind posting and suggestion of a canopy bracket signal.....

this is the one as you mention at Llangollen,,,,and it is a great idea and would look good on platform two of Cambrian Street...

I am not a great modeller, but I try and I often 'take the shortest route' to solve a problem.....I could build my platforms from scratch by various methods I've researched I'm sure, but the easiest way I have found here is just to use mdf, the depth is 18mm which for me is 'close enough to (whatsit) is to swearing' the recommended height of platforms in 00 to real life, I've found from experience that platforms were all sorts of depths. 18mm mdf brings it to a level just below of the step running board of my coaches and the middle of the loco buffer beam, which is good enough for my purposes I feel?

Be careful though when sawing or profiling as this creates a huge of amount of dust, so always cut outside and wear a mask too for protection.

Cheers once more,

Regards as always

Bob
