A few further images for you to look over and comment on, the town as yet unnamed begins to fill out....the platform has been placed in situ to be worked upon whilst in its intended position.... Regards always Bob Looking great, amazing what difference it makes. How about a fence or a row of neat immaculate hedging or flower beds if appropriate in this area? If not perhaps some period lamp posts and general station items, milk churns, luggage, outside toilet block. Perhaps it'd be a good space for a cameo scene to take the eye away from the join? John Hi....Thanks for the kind comments..... ......to 'blur' the line of the platform join, I am intending infill the 'fap' with putty and then to place a run of spear top fencing with gate access to the platform along with a ubiquitous red phone box hopefully.... The footbridge should also deflect the eye somewhat too and as you suggest, would a strategically placed flower bed.... Regards always..... BobM
Evening guys..... Hope everyone has 'survived' today's soaking....great for the garden though and much needed, well it is autumn! Just a quick note....keeping you appraised of intentions for the town side of the layout.....have taken onboard the kind and constructive comments and will be easing the 'Corrie Street' look, by shortening the length of the terrace houses and by turning at the corner shop...have also removed the 'overly large' Ship Inn building...further tweaks likely as I progress. Cheers guys. stay safe please..... Regards always.... Bob Edited September 30, 2020 by BobM
BobM
Evening guys.... Just musing here .....the station house intended to have a pig sty located in the garden area.... Regards always Bob
BobM
Not going as far as putting a pig on the wall! There is a local legend around these parts hotly contested by Shropshire that it was in Gornal, near Dudley where they 'Stuck their Pig on the Wall to see the band and Captain Webb's procession pass by"! However, it was probably the Dawley procession, a celebration of Captain Webb's, achievement where this occurred! The postcard here was published circa 1875 by George Baldwin of Dawley, Shropshire. Captain Webb was of course the first man to swim the English Channel in 1875 Regards always Bob
RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted October 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 2, 2020 " Captain Webb the Dawley man, Captain Webb from Dawley, Came swimming along the old canal That carried the bricks to Lawley. Swimming along - Swimming along - Swimming along from Severn, And paying a call at Dawley Bank while swimming along to Heaven "

BobM
Hi Guys.... Wet enough? The townscape is taking shape slightly differently to previous, the run of cottages shortened, ending by the same Red Lion but now a corner 'turned' by a more appropriate (shop) building, the floral aspect will be removed though.....the farend still with the Chip Shop for now but this too may be altered for a more substantial corner shop...? The "putting a pig on a wall" thing crops up all over the country, I've heard of it happening in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. One explanation was that in times past, if you could convince the revenue that you were mad, you could get off paying taxes. Adrian

It wouldn't at this moment take a great deal to convince the revenue of the mental state of the majority of folks that live around here I can tell you! RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted October 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 3, 2020 Nice Bob. Less corrie and looks much better. Well I finished the pond today mate. I only have to refit the water blade and connect the light up to the power and it's all done. The water readings are still very good as well so it looks like I've cracked it and the bio component of the filters have kicked in fully. I'll take some pics tomorrow and send them to you. BobM
Hi Guys..... Hope all are well and the weekend has been good to you....? Have revamped the potential layout of the town side of the station...... Have pushed the row of house back to create a street along the wall, to turn a corner at both ends..... there is also a small pedestrian only alleyway (dark red arrow)...also there's to be war memorial garden outside the police station / town square area...looks more open than previously I hope...? Further 'tweaks' probable.... Comments as always appreciated....... Regards always, Bob

BobM
Evening my good friends..... Hope all are well, and your week has been okay? Have formed up the footpaths for the buildings along the street, and for effect placed the granite set road surface and the towns war memorial to see how the 'land lies?..... Regards always...... Yet further 'slab' laying has begun, this time the pavements around the town.....2'x2' and 1'x 2' stone representation surface......starting around the Police Station and the War Memorial. Regards always....have a great weekend, stay safe please....! Bob Hi.... I've just noticed that I have totally messed up laying these 'slabs' and have been laid incorrectly the using the 'smaller' 1'x 2's inside the pattern, so will ('lift', no not really ) do these again, thankfully only small areas done. Strange, that I thought it didn't look right but really didn't register until, the penny dropped! Always happy to share my mistakes with everyone! Regards always....will update when all done.... BobM
Evening...... I'm getting too old to lay slabs! Anyway have redone the 'offending' surface..... Should have noticed in the first place that I'd made an error....spent most of last Sunday at Arley laying proper slabs and bricks for the base beneath these 'Birkenhead' benches in the gardens at Arley....! Will update with further images when moving on to other 'footpaths' Regards always Bob Edited October 17, 2020 by BobM
BobM
Hi..... Begun to lay the slabs (2' x 2's) on the adjoining footpath.....quite time consuming cutting out and then laying individual pieces of plasticard but it's keeping me off the streets too! Regards always.... Bob

BobM
Evening All...Hope you're well....? A quick update on the paving....moved to t'other side of the street......'paving' with a mix of 3'x2's and 2'x2's......also for hopefully a good effect, turned the orientation at the corner, with a smaller grouping of 2'x2's midway to delineate the 'entry' between the terrace cottages...... Will keep at it and update when happy and complete..... Regards always..... Bob
BobM
Hi Guys..... Beginning to see 'slabs before the eye's' so thankful, I have run out of 2'x2's for this evening stint, but hopefully making good progress.....? Will update when I've cut further slabs and completed the run..... Regards always... stay safe.... Bob

BobM
Evening Guys....Hope all are keeping chipper....... Completed the paving as far as I wish to go for now, obvious 'fettling' to do to clean up but at this stage, I will paint up and slightly weather, and not as heavily as the platforms and station slabbing....... Quite pleased with the way this has turned out...... Regards always....... Bob Edited October 21, 2020 by BobM 6
