Nice bit of Victorian ironwork there Bob. Although if you turn the small platform into a parcels road you don't need to connect it to the other platforms with a footbridge mate. They would just schlapp everything around the end on barrows. I have to say you could still use the more open footbridge instead of the covered one as it will give a more open feel to the whole station.

Hi,,,,, Hope you're okay.....?

I have straightened things out in my head out today, I am sorry about yesterdays 'wobbly'....leaning now towards the parcels platform idea as it'll be an additional interest to add trolleys and such furniture.....the bridge too will be shortened to a single open span, so yes some changes but all i hope for the better.

Stay safe,,, regards always....

I think a parcel platform is a great idea and I agree that will add to an already very interesting layout.

Apologies if I have miss understood but you’re not planning on replacing the covered footbridge you did such a sterling  job of are you?

Hi Chris....

Thanks for the kind posting....I am looking to use the smaller platform for parcels, unsure how to treat the far end whether to try and create a lo relief office building of some kind perhaps......using the platform for parcels would negate the need for a large bridge, so yes the covered one would go sadly, and given the fact that I've 'butchered'  the ends to create one structure, I can't work out how I'd make a single unit, unless I joined 2 halves..?

Regards always...

Hi

Came across this interesting video of parcel operations, great when some of the parcels (staged) fall off the trolley!

Food for thought here at about 10 mins is the type of building I could try to indicate as a low relief feature in some way?

Regards always

Bob

Evening guys........

Here are the provisional thoughts on how I could revamp the  'local' platform into a parcels / milk dock.......

So, firstly intend to shorten the 'head shunt'  which allows for a greater depth to the end of the platform, then will position the end of or part of a building which would provide an indication of the parcels / admin offices, there will perhaps be gated fencing to the left hand side......?

Comments and suggestions as always will be greatly appreciated to move this forwards.......

Evening my good friends, hope your respective Saturdays have gone well,,,

Been a tad wet up here this morning and chilly, but perhaps not as cold as it may be next weekend, even some snow showers about!

Have had further thoughts on the development of the parcels / small goods platform......this is how 'we' left it last night.....

IMG_0141.JPG.da12e05c76d250d439cb9dafaec3713c.JPG

Although I was happy enough with the overall concept it wasn't something that I would have left as  the final set up, so have thought through and come up with this expansion which seems to me somewhat more fitting......

If I shorten the adjacent back road siding and extend the width of the platform  a proper building could be set down, either being a single or double storey possibly flat or pitched roofed warehouse / builidng.....undecided whether to run a canopy down part of platform....?

I like the concept of this the expanded design the shape and design of the building I need to think thorough....

Comments greatly appreciated......

Something akin to this?

Although preference would be for a flat roof....easier for me to construct....!

Afternoon everyone, hope all are well on this rather cold and misty Sunday with everything going okay for you...?

Following on from previous outlined notes have undertaken the following this morning.......

The head shunt has been shortened, as has the back siding with the parcels platform widened to accommodate the new buildings......also the 'stop' end of the station has seen the development of the walk around access link platform to join the whole station into one unit.......the station masters garden now has a nature tree in his garden, this softens the back scene quite neatly...comments on all as always greatly appreciated......

With regard to the buildings on the revamped parcels platform I will need help and do research on, if anyone has any pointers for suitable kits or designs I could attempt to build I would  very grateful......

Hi...

This is how I envisage the stop end of the station forming up to allow passengers to walk around to access each side of the station....

Evening Guys.....Hope your week has started well....?

Now don't laugh at this please....but just to see how the parcels platform may develop I have fashioned a very rough single and then double span building out of cardboard so that it is possible to eye up what could be set in position.......?

IMG_0164.JPG.2b4d3b74dbfb55e7db6577b616c4b876.JPG IMG_0163.JPG.3ba94695df11106db50352662d008e05.JPG

IMG_0162.JPG.78f7e0f8c636b7b5a66d0e70f125e46f.JPG

Also came across this image of milk wagons being emptied at a  platform, the milk then being piped some distance beneath the platform to remote storage or processing facility....?

Another possibility?

Any comments on this appreciated....?

Hope to make up further cardboard structures later...?

Hi all,

Cheers for the guidance and advice, looking into the possibility of constructing a double storied single roof warehouse perhaps, all grit to the mill...!

Hi Guys.....

Just think out loud.....I'm considering constructing the warehouse using either or a mixture of LCut laser pieces or StrytexModels....have seen both these used to great effect on Canute Road Quay...?

Will keep you posted...

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have done that

I could probably open up a model shop with the amount of bits and pieces I've either made or purchased that still languish beneath the boards! :scratchhead:

Take care all....

Hi.....

Just musing......potentially using skytrex models pieces for the flat roof 'parcels'  building....?

Got legs as a runner perhaps?...

Yes I like that Bob. You could maybe do a scene of a couple of guys fixing the leaking roof as well.

Flat roofs of that era were notorious for leaking the technology only caught up with the style a couple of decades back.

Hi....

Thinking of the easy route, could use this 'fine beast', would have to cut the platform I have to inset at the correct level, loosing the loading platform shown so the door is at or slightly above my platform level (a ramp constructed to wheel in trolleys), the small office and adapt sidings again perhaps, but this together with the flat roof building using Skytrex may be a way forward?

Will have a measure up when I return home tonight...
