BobM
I recall your very good advice Lez from previously with the intention to, and correct me please if I am wrong.... Make up a basic lighter blue brick colours, painting some bricks at random then darken the mix and paint a few more. Repeat this a few times until you get to the black/blue all over colour and then let it dry out., with an additional few red/orange ones..... Once all this has dried out push small balls of very wet DAS into the whole thing and rub it in well with wet fingers. DO NOT LET IT DRY. Now take a damp sponge and gently rub the DAS off until you have just the mortar courses filled with DAS and you have wiped it all off the faces of the bricks. Let this dry and then you can weather it down with powders until you are happy with it and then fix the weathering powders with a spray mat varnish. Regards always.... The brickwork on this building is quite fine, but I intend to do my best! Leaving the flat roof as it is now, as I don't want to overwork this...? George Thanks George for your kind comments, I did struggle with the roof, sometimes I thought I'd overworked it and had to revisit many times, happy with the result t the moment, will see how it looks when I begin painting up the building.... BobM
Evening Guys..... Hope your respective 'chilly' Sundays have gone well...... Leaving the roof behind, have tentatively begun to paint up the windows, using a very weak dusty grey for the 'glass' areas as I wanted to avoid using a deep solid black, hopefully to give an indication of internal space.....will concentrate on one side elevation at a time..... Take care, stay safe and have a peaceful week.... Regards always.... Bob
BobM
Evening....... Have begun the process of painting up the siding elevation of the parcels building in Pheonix Precision Blue Engineering Brick (Matt)...... When stirred and initially applied I was a little concerned at its 'blueness' (yes, I know it's blue brick....) but it was quite a 'royal blue' . however as this dries it does darken quite markedly......will let you know tomorrow hopefully how this goes.....as I am in uncharted territory here and learning by mistakes....! Thinking that the curved upper brickwork should also be blue brick......would look better? BobM
Evening all... In line with completing a bit at a time, here is the first panel.. Regards always Bob Edited January 12, 2021 by BobM
BobM
Hi...... Making slow progress......hopefully...? Intention is to have the drainpipes and internal window frames light stone, need a very fine brush for these to prevent over spill? Regards always... 37Oban
Progress is progress, no matter how slow! Better to take your time than rush things and make a mess. Think about how plants grow: they take their time and don't react well to being forced to speed up! Roja

Thanks for the kind comments, yes a number of shrubs and plants we propagate at the nursery will take many years (sometimes 5 years or so) to nurture into a saleable item from a cutting, you feed it, keep it warm and healthy, that's why it hurts when then you sell it to someone who kills it in about three weeks, brings it back and complains it's died, usually because they either didn't water enough or drowned the poor thing! RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted January 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2021 I like it Bob. The mortar courses look bang on mate. Is that the Das method I talked you through? Regards Lez.

Regards Lez. Hi..... In parts yes, where the 'mortar gaps' in the resin are deeper it's DAS, where it is shallower used just paint rubbed in and the excess wiped off, the Skytrex pieces are great, although the brickwork fine when compared to others.... Taking this slowly and tweaking as necessary... Hope all's well.... Regards always Bob

380John
Hi Bob, Progress is looking good. May I suggest some tamiya tape for doing the window frames and gutters. It's basically masking tape for modellers and won't remove any painting you've already done. It comes in different sizes and so is easy to get some nice neat lines. Regards, John

BobM
Hi.... Final posting for this evening..... So that I don't get 'hung up' on this section, the intention is paint up the remaining walls in Pheonix Blue and then mortar in the whole building and weather/ streaks and odd colour bricks, before the light stone window frames, down pipes and platform side access doors are done..... Regards always.... Bob Edited January 13, 2021 by BobM 5
BobM
Afternoon all........ Hope all are well.....? Under normal circumstances, even on a rather drab Thursday such as this, it would have been an 'Arley' day, but with continued lockdown restrictions, the SVR non operational and with even my usual enthusiasm for gardening diminished given today's weather, I am thankful for the chance to work inside on Cambrian Street. So have coated the remaining walls of the main section of the parcels office, even manged to knocked the whole pot of blue brick paint over in the process, what a mess and a costly waste, but remains enough to complete the next section....! Have also begun to wash over lightly in one or two areas with blue to take out some of the white bloom.... Will again take each section steady and carefully...... Regards always.... BobM
Hi...... Would anyone recommend a light wash over with brown to complete the walls, along with white-grey seepage stains, or should I stop 'fiddling' for now and move on? Along with further work on the curved brickwork there's the light stone window frames and down pipes to be done. Regards always...... RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted January 14, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 14, 2021 It's still looking good Bob. Don't let your self doubt distract you from the fact that you're doing a bang up job of the building mate. Regards Lez. 2
sb67
That blue brick does look good Bob, I'd be tempted to add a bit of weathering/staining but not much it looks great as it is. Have you got a "real" photo of something you can reference?

Thanks Lez.....I've always been wracked with a degree of self doubt, never been able to known when something that I've done, is enough to fulfill either my own requirements or everyone's expectations...? The main drawback is that the 'railway room' has very poor illumination, just ordinary ceiling lights ans what looks okay in good light, seemingly looses all it's definition in there, unless it's in daylight.... I will keep 'the faith'....Take care. Regards always everyone... Bob Edited January 15, 2021 by BobM
RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted January 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 15, 2021 You need to invest in some LED ceiling panels Bob. They're cheap and easy to fit, they come in many sizes and cost very little to run. Regards Lez.
