Hi......A late night update,,,,,,

Have removed the paving before it set hard.....as I could see that the pattern if continued along the whole length of the platform would have been too regimented and incorrect......so have quickly cut test pieces for a 3x2 and 2x2 pattern only......but laid...using only one size across the width of the platform thus?

I wouldn't say you botched it Bob. It's the whole point of this show and tell isn't it? You do a bit of something you aren't sure about, show us and we say nice mate but maybe it would be better if you do it like this, or that's spot on mate well done. We all make errors from time to time or find that others have a more suitable way of doing things. Nothing wrong in that. As long as it's constructive criticism and not for its own sake then it's all good. That's what friends are for after all.

Hi Bob just an idea. What if you were to cover the top in a thin layer of modelling clay. Perhaps then with the slab stones you've made you could make a "stamp" for want of a better term. That way it would just be a case of stamping the stone pattern across the surface and when dry you'd have a nice relief pattern? Just another way I guess. That'd save you making hundreds of small flag stones and just one stamp piece. You could make it as irregular or uniform as you wanted then.

As I say, just an idea.

Good luck with it!

Hi...

Comparison time....this is the section length I got to last time, prior to seeing the error of my ways.....!

This I believe is looking much better and workable, quite happy to cut further slabs and progress ahead section by section.....comments as always appreciated.... (previous on the right)..what a difference eh?

I've never worried about airing my dirty laundry in public, I admit I totally got it wrong on first attempt, if it helps to prevent someone else making the same mistake as I did then that's great!

Evening guys......

Hope all's well?

It is amazing what DAS clay, a bit of rubbing in and an episode of Endeavour on in the background for company will achieve......

the DAS has made quite a difference to the appearance of the first section of Platform 1......

The intention now is to take the stark whiteness off with an overall coating of grey undercoat, however the whole platform will be formed up first in the same manner and only when built will it be painted and weathered as a whole.....comments on the above as always appreciated....

Regards always....

Hi Guys.....

Will be turning the attention to the next section of Platform 1 soon, which will be 'interesting' as it is possesses a slight curve......will start once more by fixing the front 3' x 2' edge slabs

IMG_0236.JPG.0fa785d1e224984e8aa869c1f8de32dd.JPG

Will post images as I progress.... with all the plasticard cutting, laying and tweakings that'll be required, this may take some time.....

 Regards always......

Yes Bob. Fix the front first then work from the back edge towards the front. That way it'll all line up and the cut ones will all be on the curved bit.

Regards Lez.
