Well work has been progressing to finish the layout.

I have built 4 cassettes for the fiddle yard. These are based on Wickes gas pipe trunking with a length of code 100 track inside. They are soldered to copper clad sleepers at each end. Brass pins form the connections to the main layout. Having taken a while to get everything exactly lined up, they work a treat!

Spent a couple of hours finishing off the layout this morning, sorting out the point control rods, fitting the automatic uncouplers and completing the cassette storage units for the fiddle yard.

Apart from a few small details jobs I want to do, I am pretty well there with Bedford St Giles - now to enjoy using it :)

Point control rods colour coded to make their use easier and avoid changing the wrong ones!

The connection between the cassette units and the layout - simple, but it works!

I'm trying to book this layout for the 2020 Sutton Coldfield Exhibition but sadly I cannot get hold of the owner. I have tried his hotmail account and a personla message here but still no response.

Steve, if you read this can you get in touch with me ASAP. Thanks.

Best regards,

Adrian Hall

I've started preparing the layout for its appearance at Sutton Coldfield next April. I am wondering what is the best thing to do about legs for the layout as its only 4 foot long and 18" wide - would a set of trestles work OK with the layout clamped to them underneath for additional stability?

Any suggestions welcome, have a happy day and stay safe :)

It’s been a long time since my last posting on this thread, but recently bought Bedford St Giles into the house to do a few scenic jobs on and he joy some running sessions.

So missing exhibiting, can’t wait to get back showing the layout at exhibitions around the West Midlands!

Meantime, here’s a few photos of the layout - take care, stay safe, well and happy!
