Duchy Wheeler
I know what you are thinking... what this French model of an American loco doing here! Well.... I came across this in an Ian Allan 'Locomotives Illustrated' issue 65, dated May-June 1989. "In March 1947 the LPTB gave some thought to the purchase of one of the American type 0-6-0Ts (14 of which became Southern Ralway 'USA' class) which were up for disposal but it was not until replacement of existing steam became urgent that the LTE had to seek new steam power."Food for thought on what might have been... livery application, fleet number etc.!? RMweb Gold TravisM Posted November 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 16, 2015 Awesome, a great "what if" and with Model Rail doing their USA tank, a better one could be done against the old Hornby Acho model. Would loved to have seen a Lima or Baldwin version of this loco shunting at Neasden, though not sure they had the legs to get to Croxley tip as I believe their top speed was only about 20 mph.
