2mm Andy Posted November 17, 2015 Share Posted November 17, 2015 Graham, I've dug out the instructions that came with some coach kits using these bogies, and will scan them when I am back at work tomorrow (now added). Basically, the recommended order of construction is to cut out the main bogie stretcher, solder the bearings in place and stack the side frame etches on these, soldering as you go (there are six layers (including the axleboxes) to add to the main bogie etch). The instructions recommend leaving each side frame on the etched fret until it is soldered in place, then cutting it from the fret afterwards (and before moving onto the next layer). As the side frames stack up, a series of slots will form in the bottom of the sides (be frugal with the solder as these can easily get filled-up!), and these are to locate the tabs for the footboards (these vary depending on the prototype) which are added last, after the top plate and the coach brakes (if you want to fit them - they're an extra item not included in the main etch). Chris Higgs, who designed the bogie etches does also post on here so should be able to answer specific queries.
