I'd like to return my Bachmann BDAs to an earlier period. To this effect, I've purchased some Cambrian plate-frame bogies, but what other physical changes do I need to make. Naturally I'm aware that I will need to change the AB for VB gear, but how should I configure the VB gear by comparison and should I be aware of any other issues involved in the process.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Dave.

.

This is B927530 parked opposite 'Torchwood HQ' in 2005, and whilst it's fitted with Davies & Lloyd bogies, the vac cylinder, hand brakes and buffers are visible.

.

I've got some others with BR (WR) 'plateback' bogies as well if you're interested.

Dave - although you can alter to VB you do not need to do this. The BDA came from earlier unfitted BDO wagons - the bodies are all very similar, but the BDO would be a simpler conversion.

which includes examples during conversion.

The open web buffer http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/p49591231.html is typical for many of these.

The open web buffers are available from Wizard Models too as it happens http://www.wizardmodels.co.uk/FrameSetShop.php (look under whitemetal wagon components).
