RMweb Premium Hippo Posted November 28, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) On the Oxford Diecast stand was a small A4 sign stating they will be making the 0-6-0DE Janus. The few details were, it will feature a 5 pole mote and be available late 2016. There will be 4 liveries NCB Port of London Authority British Steel And I'll be damned if I can remeber the 4th. RMweb Premium ColinK Posted November 28, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 28, 2015 Another reason to build a shunting layout. Excellent news.
No Decorum
Yes, excellent. Matching rakes of wagons is a nice touch too. I shall have to do a bit of digging around to decide which appeals to me. If it works as smoothly as the Radial, it should be a superb shunter to operate. Gerald Henriksen
Given that it is a Golden Valley Hobbies product it is already being discussed in the Smaller Suppliers section: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/105411-golden-valley-hobbies-to-announce-oo-loco-at-warley/

hmrspaul
And there are many more possibilities for liveries. I like the Yeoman one http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/industriallocomotive/e2081e2a1 Paul

Mark Saunders
More info http://www.goldenvalleyhobbies.com/index.php?page=fromLibrary&guide=194 I see that Oxford Rail will producing wagon packs with liveries 'inspired by' the companies to go with the locos. I hope that Matching Wagons does not just mean slapping BSC, NCB, PLA or BP randomly on the Oxford Rail 12/13 ton 7 plank mineral! Narrow Gauge Jordan
This is exciting news, I have a very close connection with the real thing, working at TATA Steel and seeing them daily at work and also being a volunteer at the Appleby Frodingham railway preservation society in scunthorpe steelworks which has one of the first built, I wonder if they will do a version in the Appleby Frodingham steel company's livery

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 1, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 1, 2015 I've pre-ordered one, strangely they've already deducted the postage from my account? I phoned them this morning and the postage has been refunded. They blamed paypal but this has never happened to me before.
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted December 2, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 2, 2015 I wonder if there is demand for one without any logos on? Then I could have one for my fictious industrial complex.

RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted December 10, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 10, 2015 Was there ever a Demonstrator that would have been trialled by potential users prior to purchase? Even if there wasn't, a version in a plain livery without logos would provide a plausible excuse to run one on most layouts of suitable era. avonside1563
For information, the close up images of a Janus on the Golden Valley website are of the ex-Shelton Steelworks example preserved at Foxfield. The loco 'Ludstone' has been the subject of cosmetic restoration this year and has gone from this to this There is more work planned for next year which may even culminate in a return to traffic.
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted December 11, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2015 From the photos on this thread it look just like a class 02 with a bonnet each side of the cab.
avonside1563
A couple of detail shots for those who might be interested. The covers for the air filter intakes, the one on the right is an original, the other two are new fabrications Looking inside the generator of the No.2 engine. AMJ
Nice to see another industrial rather than a main line locomotive be selected. At one time BR contemplated buying a batch of these so those wanting to do a hypothetical livery can do so. A sensible design would be motor in say the A end bonnet reserving the B end for the DCC chip and speaker. Would need working lights to ensure you know which is front and back ends!
darren01
I would love to have one of these on my new layout, but i do hope they make the flanges smaller than the Adams, so i can run it on C+L track.
steve1
I agree with ColinK and John comments above. Plain colours, yellow, red, green, blue for instance would make sense. Then modellers can add their own logos or names. steve
rope runner
Always asked for, but hardly ever produced. The market size of those people willing to merely add decals to a model verses those who would repaint and detail verses those who simply box open is very thin, despite what we in the ideological world of rmweb would like to think. steve1
Bachmann (& other US manufacturers) produce industrial switchers/shunters in plain colours and they sell. steve
