M Graff
Hi all! We had an operation session last night. We were an 8 man crew running it. Mid session we had an accident.... A rail bus sideswiped one of the steam locomotives! It is a HO scale Swedish class S1 built from a white metal/brass kit (DJH) with sound installed. The loco took a 4' jump to the stone floor! I volunteered to fix the wreck, so I took a quick look at the damages: (Photo: Steen Stavnshöj) It had, besides all the loose parts, a short circuit and a binding drive. The cylinder chest was dented, the plows were bent etc. etc... The rear buffer beam was broken... The frame was bent, and the bolts... It was quite a chore to get it fixed, a lot of parts had to be bent to shape. Even the running boards... 6 hours later, here it is: I repainted the smokebox, cylinders, boiler and cab roof while I was at it. There was a lot of small touch ups to be made. I added som water streaks as well... Now it runs like new! And no parts left!
Spitfire2865
This is exactly why Im paranoid about track running on the edges of boards. Though fantastic fix. If I saw the frames were bent, Id have just written it off as a loss.
M Graff
Thanks! But it would have been hard to justify writing off a £600 locomotive....
