enz
And so another construction mystery arises - does anyone know the meaning for some of the pile tops being marked in green and some in yellow on the reinforcing mat of raft one? I doubt it's because they ran out of green paint... . Regards - E

RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted June 16, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2016 I realise it won't all be getting used simultaneously but there can't be many sites where so much plant is concentrated in such a small area. John
David Todd
Am presuming, what they have set out and assembling the reinforcing is for the new waterway duct under the Trackbed. Once they have cut, removed the old support rails and excavated. How tenuous is the Seawall at this point ?
jukebox
Hmmmm. Yes, could indeed be the reo for the walls or floor of a box culvert under the track there, dt. Still doesn't explain the green "250" markings on the wall - they are too far apart to be the outside edges of a drainage culvert. If they dig out most of the loose backfill behind the sea wall in that area to expose the culvert, there won't be much ground load on the wall pushing out towards the sea. The chance of it falling back inwards would not be too high - the wall is cracked and decayed, but still has plenty of reo holding the mass together - so cutting those old rails away would not be high risk. Mind you, I bet they won't waste much time getting the culvert poured, just in case...

RMweb Gold unravelled Posted June 16, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2016 I'm interested to see that the first slab ends so close to the main sea wall fault. Possibly making the slabs meet there will allow relative movement over a number of years without overstressing anything. Thanks Dave
