some timber.

See p. 11, diagram no. 1, 2 wagon set. Although that's a BR document, the LNWR instructions (LNWR Wagons Vol. 1 Appendix 3) are pretty much identical, so presumably represents best practice generally. (Thanks to the Barrowmore Model Railway Group for making this document available.)

At some point I'm going to have to load a 3-set (LNWR D12 + D13) in such a way that it stays on the rails and goes round curves!

Managed to get a start tonight on jobs that were noted at Newcastle. The first is the electrical connections on the lights, these were never very good, the chocolate blocks never seemed to be all that reliable, the wires were too short and I was forever reconnecting them. Hopefully this will sort them.

From this...

The link from the FY board needs a plug and socket but it will be simplified.

This is a mess...

This is getting better.

The two strips of LEDs were wired separately as the both had remote dimmers but as these were both on the same frequency they have never been used so the 2 strips are being wired together to simplify things even more, it will also make it easier to add another strip, which may well happen.

Also don't forget to nominate your favourite NER, EM gauge layout set on the Rosedale branch in the BRM awards...:o

Got the rest of the lighting wiring sorted today, and I've added another strip along the front which should help light the rear of the layout a bit more and hopefully get rid of the War of the worlds tripods.

Thought I'd fit one of these to stop it flopping about when it's folded up and I'm trying to carry it.

Those of you that watch my workbench thread may have seen that I've been working on some horse drawn vehicles over Christmas, one was a horse and cart, now in use carting hat to the stables up at the mines.

Paul

I have just come across this epic thread!!  What a splendid layout.  Is there any chance The Depots might venture further south at any time??

The arrival of the Bachman J72 has re awakened an interest in North East railways which originates from a family link with Durham - my great uncle was estate manager at Brancepeth Castle in the 30's.

Maybe a small mineral line might be the thing - I wouldn't have space for anything large, so it would have to be a la Croft Depot I think!

Regards

Martyn
