RMweb Gold 46444 Posted February 2, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 2, 2016 I've recently started a thread on BR (WR) Toad brake van allocation/restricted use transfers on this thread: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/107782-oo-gauge-br-wr-toad-brake-van-markings/&do=findComment&comment=2188205 I'm more interested in brake vans that would have worked in the Forest/Severn & Wye and also around Gloucester. So far I've come up with the following but can't find numbers for the vans: LYDNEY, R.U., NOT IN COMMON USE ROSS-ON-WYE, R.U. , NOT IN COMMON USE I also think I've found some which say the following: ?SOUTH WEST AREA, R.U. , NOT IN COMMON USE Most however appear to have the allocation and R.U painted out just leaving the 'NOT IN COMMON USE' John Isherwood of CCT Transfers has kindly offered to do a sheet of FoD allocation/R.U. brake van decals if I can find enough prototypes. Any information welcomed. Cheers, Mark

5050
I'll be needing some as well for the Drybrook Road layout so I'll be watching with interest.
F-UnitMad
A grey Toad at the DFR now is W56769, which has a patch with just "LYDNEY R U" on the side. I'm sure in BR days there was a Toad that was just for use on the runs from the Forest to Stoke Gifford yard, & a patch on the side listed those workings it was to be used for. Probably seen it in DFR literature or the books by Ben Ashworth.
JelleJan
I also think I've found some which say the following: ?SOUTH WEST AREA, R.U. , NOT IN COMMON USE Hi Mark, do you mean the photograph by Ben Ashworth, used in BR Steam in Dean on page 75, also used in OPC's Historical Survey of the FoD on page 139? Could it be read as Bristol West Depot? Bachmann did it (with another wagon number) as 33-306: Kind regards from the Netherlands, Jelle Jan
