dajt
Fantastic and inspiring - I wanted an O scale garden railway, so I built one No hand-wringing, just go and do it. Love it!
Bartb
As the sun was shinning I decided to have a sit in the garden, and do a bit of modelling. Cut some wood up to fit in Dapol's S R 5 plank wagon, you can't beat real wood for this. Now a question. Do you think the overhang is to long for the wagon ? Bartb
Thanks to some nice sunny weather today, managed to get out into the garden and do some edging for the boards. So now reached the end of the line for now, until my neighbours put up their new fence. Then I can work out what to do and where to go with it. Also managed to run some trains today. and sort out a few minor problems.
George Leacon
Looks good Mr B, I too like your proactive stance haha. How secure are the fence posts? Do they have deep foundations? If not, over time they're liable to move out of position. Cheers
DCB
Looks good, What is beyond the wall where it says beware of trains? Maybe you could have a terminus or sidings in there?
RMweb Premium dhjgreen Posted April 3, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 3, 2016 As the sun was shinning I decided to have a sit in the garden, and do a bit of modelling. Cut some wood up to fit in Dapol's S R 5 plank wagon, you can't beat real wood for this. Now a question. Do you think the overhang is to long for the wagon ? Yes, too long. The wood extends beyond the buffers. I do not any rules, but would expect loads to remain within the confines of the wagon body. Difficult to get the load out then, probably a load suited to a flat? DCB
It is not the length but the depth of the stack of timbers, It was common for timber loads to overhang but careful marshalling or a dedicated low wagon marshalled as a runner would solve the possibility of the load fouling an adjacent high sided wagon. One layer would be fine but the upper ones need roping securely at the very least
Bartb
George the posts are well in the ground and treated and painted before I put them in, but thanks for for the advice. David c Thats my bedroom so can't go in there. Also i did cut the wood down after trying them, and will put some ties around them. Thanks for your input. Bartb
Been busy so haven't had much time to do my railway lately, tho I did get a piece of wood to make a platform. Hopefully the weather will improve and I can get some more done.
Bartb
Had a running session yesterday, as the weather was so nice. Had a problem with one of the points, Managed to sort it out tho. I think I need some kind of automatic coupling, as it's a end to end layout.

Bartb
Hi Andyram haven't had much time to do any more at the moment, apart from a quick running session the other day. I am waiting for my neighbour to put a new fence up so I can do the last bit. Don't think they will be doing it till August/September so I will have to be patient. Thank you for your comment. Bartb
The end of the Line for now. Getting this bit of the garden cleaned up ready for the last section. Not sure what it will be yet until my neighbour puts their fence up in August/September. At the moment I think it will be a runaround with 2 more points. Also had a short Running session
Bartb
Been a while since I posted anything on here, there have been a few changes since these shots. i decided to scrap this and build tail chaser, in the garden. It worked well for a few years, but then had problems with some of the wood. Mainly over the back, where it's more damp.So Once again I have to do some more work on it.
