Hello Buddy, spent a few hours at the Blue bell line on Sunday and took this picture of the pit we were talking about this morning, hope it helps with NR...

Thanks for the pic George, it look a bit oily, I'll need to get some Gloss Black and Varnish out for mine.

Talking of the Pits, I did manage to get mine in today.

To save cutting into the base board I just cut through the two layers of Cork Tiles and then removed the bottom from the Pits, no one will see once it's oiled up.

Next job is to get some more 2mm card and do the Hard Standing like I did on West Shed.

There are three ways of doing things,

1- The right way

2- The wrong way

3- The Bodgit Peters way :jester:

Now then Mr Peters - a word! I took great care in maintaining 44004+44008 when at Toton then you come along and have the audacity to dirty them up, I don't know why I bothered. :beee: I actually removed both 44004 'Great Gable' nameplates for secure storage, for a laugh I slid one down my leg inside my overalls and walked past the foreman's office with a distinctly odd gait, I received the expected mouthful and good laugh! Trouble was he new I was an enthusiast.

Well a fairly quiet day today, but I have made a start on the Hard Standing around the Shed area.

I started off with some 2mm Plasticard off cuts and laid them between the sleepers to bring the top to level with the top of the sleepers.

I then used some 2mm buff cardboard , (from the back of my Art Pad sheets) to lay up to the rail sides.

Next I trimmed them back underneath to allow for the Chairs.

Then they were trial fitted into place.

Then a trial test with the Shed.

Then with some stock for size comparison.

Now all weighed down to set over night.

Tomorrow I hope to do the centre sections between the rails, then any gaps can be filled with filler.

What great days they were too Buddy, l spend far to much time on you tube reminiscing on the good days at Eastleigh, where has everything gone ?...

I must stay focused :O

I really really must stay focused and not have to many eras. I have Blue, because that's when I got into Railways, real and model in 1977, but I like the Steam / Transition for variety, and the two go together fairly well infrastructure wise. But to go to Sectorisation would mean all new Rolling Stock, Lineside equipment and signage etc.

STAY FOCUSED PETERS. 1968 - 1978 ISH PLUS A BIT NOW AND THEN. :sungum:   :nono:

I must admit I'm having the same urges Andy, I keep watching videos of Freightliner 66s, class 153 and Desiro DMUs through Grindleford and thinking, "Ooh, I could get one of those" :D

It's very hard to resist!

Hi Andy

Having a catch up tonight. Must say North road is coming along really well. Like the look of the hard standing outside the sheds. Don't forget plenty of steam sheds did end up being adapted for diesel traction. Look at Barrow Hill or St Blazey for example. If you added some partly closed roller shutter doors to those shed doors if would pass off quite nicely as a converted steam shed.

Some nice sectorised loco's wouldn't go a miss either. C'mon, you know it makes sense HaHaHa!!

Cheers

Marcus
