RMweb Gold Andy7 Posted November 29, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 29, 2017 Do we know why DRS are painting the later 68's in a retro DRS livery instead of the natty Compass one? They are due to receive the Trans Pennine livery as per further up the thread. Saves money I guess by not applying full compass vinyls.

Dr Gerbil-Fritters
I had a one off opportunity to be in Glenrothes for a couple of days this week, so of course I had to ride the 18.16 to Edinburgh behind 68 006 Daring. I haven't enjoyed such excellent diesel thrash since the early 80s. What magnificent machines!
Popular Post mikeyh
Couldn't see any other photos on here of the Bridgwater nuclear flask traffic so here's a few from earlier today. Direct Rail Services' 68 005 'Defiant' and 68 034 shunt a single FNA flask wagon in Bridgwater goods yard, before leaving (23 minutes early) with the 11.58 to Crewe Coal Sidings (DRS). I always think there's it's fascinating to see these 'state of the art' high speed locos creeping around in rusty and weed covered sidings! Dr Gerbil-Fritters
I love the sound of the 68, but good grief that front end is an abomination of mismatched convex and concave curves and poor detailing. The hand rails remind me of an old persons bathroom... I wish they'd modelled it on the Siemens ES64U4 front end, a modern classic...
