Do we know why DRS are painting the later 68's in a retro DRS livery instead of the natty Compass one?

They are due to receive the Trans Pennine livery as per further up the thread. Saves money I guess by not applying full compass vinyls.

The pair worked to Carlisle on 01/09/2018 but 018 got into difficulties so was replaced by 016 for the return to Norwich and then the ECS

After a weekend on driver training duties between York and Scarborough, TPE liveried 68030 leads 68023 Achilles through Deighton on 5th November working back to Crewe with 0B01, 10.12 York to Crewe Gresty Bridge.

A pair of TPE liveried class 68s have today crossed the Pennines ready to continue driver training between York and Scarborough from 12th November.

 

68027 with sister 68023 'Achilles' at Colne Bridge, Huddersfield with 0H27, 09.35 Crewe Gresty Bridge (DRS) to York.

010 and 015 at Marylebone on 11.12.15. Only 5 minutes after this photo the station was evacuated as one of the coaches behind the DVT of 010's train was on fire!

Same day but earlier in the evening and 010 sat at the head of the slam door set.

I love the sound of the 68, but good grief that front end is an abomination of mismatched convex and concave curves and poor detailing.  The hand rails remind me of an old persons bathroom...

 

I wish they'd modelled it on the Siemens ES64U4 front end, a modern classic...

I was out in Scarborough today, and whilst on the station saw two class 68’s. 68019, Brutus, and 68027, Splendid. I took some photo’s.
