Requires a reversal somewhere on the return, so avoids a run round?

I'll have to check the routing on Real Time Trains. Maybe the service runs direct from Sellafield avoiding Carlisle, but possibly returns via a reversal Kingmoor Yard?

Another TPE 68 on 6K05 Carlisle-Crewe.

But with an interesting addition.

A mate sent me a video of that going past his house at the end of Whalley viaduct. Not a good enough one to share though!

Someone posted a link of it on flasks earlier in the week and then with another Chiltern 013 on an Intermodal covering for a failed 88. Thought it was on here but it was on the Dapol 68 thread:

I have put the pics in below for ease of access but I don't take credit for finding them, that was @Simon Bendall

Although in quite the opposite manner, and further to one of the posts on the previous page. Both Mk5 equipped DRS ones (033 and 034) have been on passenger services for TPE now as well, most notably 034 given it has been done by Dapol:

033:

68033 68033 Binnington

(that last pic is probably taken on my mate's farm, different one to aforementioned in my last post)

034:

Again no credit for pics I am just sharing what I have seen on Flickr.

Quite funny that tireless looks to be the one having a rest!

I think all the TPE class 68s should be named 'Easy Life'. :laugh_mini:

Technical gremlins notwithstanding, mostly with the CAF built Nova 3 sets, even before the lockdown and consequent reduction in timetabled services they weren't exactly heavily diagrammed.  Still nice to see and hear on services though.

Also nice to see stock being ordered with redundancy rather than being at capacity from the off!

DRS 68034 remains on hire to TransPennine Express and is currently paired with Nova 3 set TP11.  Here it is at Colne Bridge on 24th June 2020 on the rear of 1E43, 16.31 Manchester Victoria to Scarborough.

Although DRS 68033 and 68034 have both been on hire to TransPennine Express over the past few weeks whilst work is done on the TPE allocated class 68s, I can't recall* any days when both have been in use on the same day on TPE's Liverpool Lime Street-Scarborough services.

On the 31st July 2020 both were in use, together with 68031 'Felix', on the current three diagrams for the class on TPE services.

68033 paired with Nova 3 set TP08 at Colne Bridge with 1F66, 12.34 Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street.

Nova 3 set TP07 with 68034 pushing approaching Deighton with 1F72, 15.34 Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street...

...and passing through Deighton station.

* I haven't trawled back through all the sources that I have access to yet, so if anyone is able to confirm other dates when both have been in use on the same day I'd be grateful.

I believe that this is the first date/occasion that both 033 & 034 have been in use on Nova 3 TPE trains.

I recall previously on other days that either one or the other have been in use on Nova 3 TPE trains, but not both of them on the same day.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

Thanks Danny.  I was reasonably sure that today was the first occasion, but couldn’t be 100%.

You're more than welcome. Excellent bunch of photos as always, by the way. I am always keen to view yours, because they are always really focused and clear. I am 99% confident that today is the first day for them both working Nova 3 trains for TPE. Put it this way I can't remember any other reports, sightings, photographs or any other details that would suggest or confirm any otherwise.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

How exactly does the diagramming work then at the moment as there seems to be a lot of Scarborough-York trains and the occasional Scarborough-Liverpool.

I assumed the Scarborough-York was one diagram and Scarborough-Liverpool was another but if both trains end up going to Liverpool then that can't be the case.

Oddly enough I saw on RC that the DRS ones were working and was going to go see one of them, along with the pair of 47s that went to Scarborough yesterday, but I was working longer than anticipated.

This is the current Monday-Saturday diagram

1F54 - 0634 Scarborough - Liverpool Lime St (0932)
1E35 - 1154 Liverpool Lime St - Scarborough (1451)
1F72 - 1534 Scarborough - Liverpool Lime St (1833)
1E51 - 1954 Liverpool Lime Street - Scarborough (2249)

1F56 - 0734 Scarborough - Manchester Vic (0951)
5E43 - 1001 Manchester Vic - Sidings - Manchester Vic (1619)
1E43 - 1630 Manchester Vic - Scarborough (1851)
1P92 - 1934 Scarborough - Manchester Airport (2222)

1F48 - 0554 Manchester Vic - Liverpool Lime St (0634)
1E25 - 0654 Liverpool Lime St - Scarborough (0945)
1T60 - 0957 Scarborough - York (1046)
1T29 - 1100 York - Scarborough (1151)
1F66 - 1234 Scarborough - Liverpool Lime St (1601)
1E45 - 1654 Liverpool Lime St - Scarborough (1951)

And courtesy of a posting on another site, this should be the allocations for todays diagrams.  Posted in good faith so if there’s a substitution during the day don’t blame the poster!

68031+TP11 for 1F48 and the rest of the diagram

68033+TP08 for 1F56 and the rest of the diagram

68034+TP07 for 1F54 and the rest of the diagram

Before anyone asks, I don’t know if the 68s are on the Scarborough end or the Lime Street end.

Just in case it's of any use generally, here are the current Sunday diagrams;

1T60 - 09:32 Scarborough - York (1022)
1T29 - 11:00 York - Scarborough (1151)
1F66 - 12:34 Scarborough - Liverpool Lime St (1558)
1E51 - 19:52 Liverpool Lime St - Scarborough (2251)

9M05 - 09:22 Manchester Victoria - Liverpool Lime St (0959)
1E35 - 11:52 Liverpool Lime St - Scarborough (1451)
1T72 - 15:34 Scarborough - York (1624)
1T43 - 18:00 York - Scarborough (1849)
1P92 - 19:34 Scarborough - Manchester International Airport (2220)

Thanks that explains a lot, I could see where the trains were going but wasn't sure which tied into which, especially with the below tied into that!

There is another diagram I think between these:

1T21 0702 York - Scarborough 0751

1T58 0834 Scarborough - York 0925

1T27 1000 York - Scarborough 1049

1T64 1134 Scarborough - York 1224

1T33 1300 York - Scarborough 1349

1T70 1434 Scarborough - York 1524

1T39 1600 York - Scarborough 1649

1T76 1734 Scarborough - York 1824

1T47 2000 York - Scarborough 2049

This is supposedly being run today by 185129 and 185151

Makes sense to have a set for running Scar-York TBH, it's normally the most crowded bit on the line IMO because the rest of the route has quite a lot of coverage either with Newcastle TPE trains to Manchester or Northern between York and Leeds

68027 on 6K05 Carlisle-Crewe 24 September.

It looked like it was making light work of a heavily loaded train on Langho bank, but it had stalled a mile or so earlier and 66774 was pushing from the rear! (See 66 photo thread)

Saw 2 x  68's top and tailing a Kingmoor to Hull Docks working on the 30th of October on what seemed to be bogie flats with 3 / 4 bright red boxes on each, to far away to be sure.

Does anyone have any information and or pictures.

Thank you in anticipation.
