Al.
The bridge was never rebuilt as the route became redundant following the East/West divide. As stated above, it was built to supply a war against France, not Russia. Anyway, update for today. Erpeler Ley is now green. And about flocking time too....!
Al.
A bit more work on the Erpeler Ley anti-aircraft battery. Slow progress, but getting there...
Al.
Not a lot of progress this week. Mostly tidying up.
Al.
Been suffering from a bit of shell shock with Remagen this past month, so turned my hand to finishing a commission for an armoured train. It's 28mm scale for a Warhammer 40K army. Loco plus 4 armoured wagons loosely based around the WWII BP44 train. Hopefully I'll get back to Remagen next week.

Alan Kettlewell
Great project this, I like what you're doing. I visited the site a couple of years ago whilst on holiday down on the Mosel. A very interesting visit, loads of history and well worth a look round the museum in the bridge abutment. Keep up the good work, and keep posting please ... RJS1977
The bridge also crops up in Jeffey Archer's novel "Kane and Abel" (spoiler alert!) - Abel, a hotelier by trade, signs up for the US Army and to his displeasure is assigned to the Catering Corps. His perceived arch-rival William Kane becomes an officer in the infantry. On delivering food to the US camp west of the river at Remagen, Abel and his men are commanded to leave the food and cross the bridge as stretcher bearers because a US battalion has crossed the bridge but been ambushed on the other side. Gradually the stretcher party diminishes as its members return carrying wounded soldiers until only Abel and one other man are left. They then come across the battalion's medical officer who has just finished bandaging an officer who has received severe facial injuries. Abel carries him back to camp, unwittingly saving the life of the man he'd sworn to destroy! Don't know if that could be worked in as a cameo? Al.
Not a bad idea, however the layout is set before it was captured by the American's so unfortunately that cameo won't fit. However, there will be a few others from classic war movies and books...
Al.
I'm back to scenery work today. Working on the wooded area to the rear of the Erpeler Ley AA battery. It's ready for trees now. I figure I need about 20 to cover this area.
Al.
Last week I pushed on with a bit more baseboard construction. This board is the far left board forming the west side of the Rhine valley and contains an upper and lower reversing loops and storages sidings for between 8 to 16 trains. The board will be scenic with the sidings being hidden beneath a hill side and church.
Al.
This weekend I've moved back to getting a bit more rolling stock ready. The latest one titled the 'General's Train' is a BR03 and four coaches. The lead and training coaches have been converted to take a quad 20mm flak38 gun (still to be added) and the full rake has been painted in late '44 ambush camouflage colours. I think I've made a mistake with the DR logos as they look too big. I might change them before weathering.
Al.
More scenery. This is the tunnel mouth for the upper level reversing loop. Base coated and ready to be installed once the track gets laid

Al.
Its been a while since I've done any work to Remagen, partly due to a three holiday to China, and partly due to me not-so-local model shop running out of n gauge track. Anyway, I managed to get a couple of hours on her this evening and pushed on with more scenery. This is the east back with the track runs under the Erpeler Ley. I've toned down the grass, added barbed wire and a few bushes. Almost ready for some trees.
Al.
A fair bit of progress since last update. The Erpeler Ley mountain is finished, with the exception of trees. I estimate I need about 80No. for this board. And I finally got the last baseboard built and bolted into place. The layout feels like its finally coming together.
Al.
Got the last bit of track-bed built. Cork underlay to go, then track.

Al.
Further update. Track laying is underway. However a few more bridges to get built first. This one is a road under bridge. Photos show basic structure, then front and rear views with all cladding completed. And final one is the bridge in position. Once it's painted it'll be installed and track over it.
