Update pics on the Flying Scotsman.

All the paint has been stripped from the loco body. I think there was the best part of six coats of Humbrol Apple Green had been applied to this loco over the years. And I've also replaced the smoke box door, as I'd wrecked the original one while trying to remove the BR number plate and adding headcode lamps.

I've a can of Doncaster Green on order and when that arrives it'll all get coat of paint before lining and numbering.

There's a close up shot of the front end of the water tender. This is nothing more then the rear end and buffer beam from a donor tender that's been trimmed to fit the front end of the water tender.

There's not been a lot of visible progress on Remagen since getting back from Stevenage. Most of what I've done has been on electrics to increasing the reliability of the fiddle yard. Still some way to go here.

One visible change is the operator side of the back scenes which have now been painted. Not a big change, but it all adds up.

Progress in two areas today.

First, the armoured cab BR38 has had its new chimney gutted and weathering completed. It's all ready to join the Schienenwolf Train. I'll get a few photos of it on the layout a bit later.

The second item is the villa. Using the video from a couple posts down, I've gathered enough information to but together the basic structure. I'll give this a trial fitting into the layout to see how it looks, and if ok I'll start cladding it next week.

The full Schienenwolf Train.

The Schienenwolf (Rail Wolf) is scratch built into an old Arnold chassis.

The two BR38's are Fleischmann models. The lead one has had an armoured cab and a Trix BR17 tender added, while the second one is standard.

Behind the locos is an Arnold tool van modified to take a flak38 anti-aircraft gun mounted on the roof.

And finally at the back is a flat wagon with spare rails.

And finally an update on the Triang Flying Scotsman refurb.

Loco bodies and tenders got a couple coats of Doncaster Green paint today. It'll be left to dry over night before the black is added.

The layouts has remained pretty much untouched since coming back from Stevenage due to the China trip and other things. So with this weekend wiped out due to the snow I've got back into the workshop, and the west end of the layout set up to start work on the final scenic board.

Just got back from Ally Pally with the latestaddition to the fleet - Roco ET90 electric railcar.

This will be going under the knife for some serious work to turn it into an armoured diesel railcar.

A brief update on the Scotsman. Now numbered, lettered and lined. It just needs to LNER Coat of Arms on the cab sides to complete. I was hoping to pick this up at Ally Pally, but had no luck. Instead I picked up a couple of headcode lamps and a 'Yorkshire Pullman' head board which are now fitted.

Back to the Armoured Railcar.

The major surgery is done and it's had a fresh paint job. I've test run it and it's quite noisy so a good service using order.

Next job would be to finish off the two pusher wagons. I'm in two minds whether to 20mm cannons to these are leave them as infantry wagons with MG42's. I'll probably do a mock up of both before I decide.

Some progress on the final scenic board today.

The frame for the fixed section is in along with the bed for the Bonn - Koblenz road and rail line.

The Apollinaris church will sit on the lift-out section and has been positioned.

The frame for the lift-out section is the next job to do.

The final scenic board is progressing nicely. The frame for the lift out section is done and the cork underlay is down ready for the final bit of track to go down.

There's a couple bits of roadway base to go down and then it's on to landscaping.

With the landscaping due to start on the church board, I need to sort out a new tunnel portal or the high level track. I came across this at the weekend. It looks like it'll fit and look the part. Time to get the PCV card out and knock up the basic structure.

Not posted an update for a few weeks. Mainly due to having been preoccupied and Paul Staplton's HO China Rail layout, which we took to the Bristol Slow bank holiday weekend. But with Beijiao back home, I'm back onto Remagen and progressing on with the Tauern Tunnel portal. The cladding is now finished and first coat of paint. I've still got to make the carved crown that sits above the lettering, I'll probably have that by the end of the week. Then is a couple more costs before it gets fitted to the layout and landscaped in.
