Hi all.  At last the 47xx is ready for prepping for painting. I will by finishing in GWR Brunswick with satin varnish.

There was no real problems with the final detailing.  I would in future attach the rocker covers  (forward of the leading splashers) before fitting the boiler unit. Very fiddly if you don't.

The steam pipes will need some filing to get somewhere near the correct angle down the running plate.

I rounded of the rear corners of the fall plate as it was dangerously close to the tender handrails on curves.

Other than that, all went well.

Hi all.  All the seasons celebrations now seem a distant memory as I return to the WB.  I have just finished the 47xx and is now ready for for delivery.

I have been making a start on my own model of LMS 4-6-0 Patriot 'LLANDUDNO'.  Although I am now setting that aside to build an SR E1 4-4-0 for Geoff.

Here is the 47xx.

Very nice Ken

It looks like a detailed 4mm Hornby model.

Funny you should say that. I had the same thought after cropping the image.

I took the photo standing well back to get it in the frame without loosing focus on the outer edges.  I guess I will have to get the hang of the manual settings on the camera to alter depth of field etc.

Either that or the Hornby model looks like a 7mm model :O

Thanks, Kev.  Work gets under way with yet another David Andrews kit, this one is 1999 vintage.  It is going well with only minor tweaks to a couple of parts.  The tender with be finished in the morning.

Back to the E1 now. The chassis has not been as easy & quick as the tender build. Mainly due to figuring out the unfamiliar valve gear. (The instruction not that helpful really)

Starting the body tomorrow.

Hi again. Nice to be back after spending quite a time organising the upcoming remodelling of the house. Finally got the SR E1 ready for the off.

The business end certainly did not go as well as the tender. (could not put a finger on, could be that there was a lot of distractions and loosing the flow of the build)

Anyway, done now.  Because of the inherent unbalance of a 4-4-0 configuration, I added as much lead weight inside the firebox. That and the large bogie spring should prevent the nose diving in operation.

Now onwards with a bit more on my own Patriot 'LLANDUDNO' . Then back to a Medley Models T1.

Hello again.  Nice to be back at the WB,  now finished the LNER T1.  (Definitely not a kit to recommend, it's more an aid to scratch building I think.)

Anyway glad it's now off the bench.

I'm now starting, for me, the daunting task of lining out my Patriot LLANDUDNO.
