Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Fascinating listening to the conversation between the MOW and the DS... not sure how I am hearing it - have the guys in the truck got the radio turned up really loud? RMweb Premium Chris116 Posted December 5, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) This train has been across the crossing for the last 20 minutes. Backed up twice and then moved forward. Lots of horns and a train passed on the other track. Edited December 5, 2016 by Chris116
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
My favourite train in ages... a pair of SD70Ms on a lengthy manifest, powering up as they accelerate away from the crossings - sounded great!
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
#1500 propels 10 plug door hi-cubes around the spur into 'del monte'... these moves seem to happen at around the same time every day, with occasional sprints over the crossing to serve the industry on the other side of the UP line. Dr Gerbil-Fritters
a busy few minutes, first a westbound stack sprints past with two SD70Ms - again, sounding sweet! then a steady chugging heralds two ES44s slogging out of Global III with a lengthy eastbound stack - mostly CMA-CGM, K-Line and Hub Group containers. Dr Gerbil-Fritters
A splendid lash up on an inbound Global III stack... 2 SD70Ms and quite possibly a GP38-2? Didn't catch the number unfortunately
Glorious NSE
Looks like a GP38-2 as it's got a lump for the filter.
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
4th unit in a 6 unit lash up.... a very smart SD40N. I read the number as 1919, but that doesn't tally with the UP roster... Edited December 7, 2016 by Dr Gerbil-Fritters
pH
Notice the melting snow already! Oh, it will be back!
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Not sure what was happening here. The sound of EMDs in full dynamics was unusual, and a pair of SD70Ms rolled to a full stand just beyond the signal gantry. A couple of very loud and very long parps on the horn and they set off again.
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
MoW plant moving east, and trackworkers hard at it in the sub-zero temperatures. Not sure why the snow melted, as the temp seems to be around -7C

Untitled-20.jpg Not sure why the snow melted, as the temp seems to be around -7C There was a heavy rain shower yesterday afternoon. I think that was what removed the snow. RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted December 8, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2016 I think we've only had pics from the webcam on this thread and not the cabin itself, which people might like to see? A couple of pics from 2005 - I assume things haven't changed much apart from the weather and the fact the Cubs have finally won the World Series again?
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 8, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2016 It certainly was like that a couple of years ago.
Zomboid
Probably not much chance of an SP unit passing these days, other than the daylight one.

CraigZ
Snow's coming later this evening there...could be 6-9 inches before it's all done.
CraigZ
And it's snowing now...with some vigour I might add....
APOLLO
Still snowing, and workers again on the diamonds. Regarding the colour light signal top right hand corner. Only the lower aspect is visible It sometimes shows red, sometimes not, virtually regardless of trains on other lines. Can someone explain ?. APOLLO
Thanks for that, but not seeing the whole signal live on webcam makes it difficult to know what's happening. I'm always flummoxed by US signals even though I model them !! Brit15
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
its a shame the whole signal is not in view - the other day it was flashing red... I have no idea how US signalling works, seems incredibly complex to me.

Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Gloomy even with the new snow fall. chugging away more than a mile behind the lead units is the DPU. You can hardly tell this is a yellow locomotive under all that winter grime.... All that coal will be in demand to keep the lights and power on.
