Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Christmas and New Year were busy, and I was in New York for work last week, so I haven't been paying much attention to the cam lately. Had a quick look just now, in time to catch an eastbound loaded coal train. Second unit was a BNSF SD70ACe and so was the DPU. Cold and wet there today, but not as cold as my trip to NYC which coincided with Storm Helena on the Saturday. I decided it would be a good idea to walk from my hotel the 2 miles to the USS Intrepid... bracing, it was.
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Rather foggy at the moment. A BNSF ethanol train heads east, and the second unit is a really spiffy warbonnet -9 44CW, #750

CraigZ
Global 3 is massive - at night you can see the lights for miles. One regularly sees loaded centerbeams going around toward Global 3...is there a lumber yard back there or some sort of team track? I can't tell from Teh Googles Earth... HeavyDuty
I'll have a look next time I'm out there (it may actually be today or Sunday), but if I remember correctly they go to a business not far around the bend in Rochelle.

I can't tell from Teh Googles Earth... No centerbeams to be found yesterday, and no obvious customers for them either. I thought there was a place near Del Monte because I've seen beams near there before, but I think it's an interchange instead. Nothing to photograph. Dr Gerbil-Fritters
warbonnet! twenty years since the end of the Santa Fe even if this is post-Santa Fe unit, ordered by ATSF but delivered to BNSF and carrying BNSF from new.... Bring it back! The orange is horrible!
Zomboid
The orange is quite reminiscent of one of the other BNSF constituents; Great Northern. Though warbonnet is nicer, I warmed up to the orange once I realised that. Orange is better than that nasty yellow frequently seen on the other line past the webcam... RMweb Gold PhilH Posted February 10, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2017 Who maintains the diamond? UP, BNSF, both of them or is there a US NR?
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
I suspect UP, as they're the only ones I've ever seen working on it. I imagine there's some sort of fee payable by BNSF based on tonnage or train volume? The US has no equivalent of NR, American railroads are properly 'vertically integrated'. Dr Gerbil-Fritters
There were about a dozen of these strangely painted tanks on this eastbound BNSF manifest about half the height of the tank barrel seems to have been badly painted in white...if it was the sunnyside up, I might think it was for heat reflection. But it's the undersides.
