cravensdmufan
James May mentioned the screwdriver again tonight during his programme reassembling the Hornby loco. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b086t7c9 But I must say I've always used the BluTac method with great sucess. Never had a problem even with those tiny little black ones deeply recessed on Bachmann diesels. Edited December 28, 2016 by cravensdmufan

SD45T-2
Ask about for Ex-GPO engineers, I've aquired a few of these in various toolbags over the years... Andy G Either you've got a very big toolbag or you've got some very small ex-GPO engineers:)
Il Grifone
Failing Blu-tack a piece of adhesive tape (or other glue*) will work. Magnetic screwdrivers are a PITA.... (often the screw is magnetised too with annoying resuits!) *Most fail to stick to metal and the joint fractures easily. Like trains, you can never have too many screwdrivers (The one you need is always the one you can't find! )

raymw
depending on the space available, just poke the screw through a thin strip of paper, and pull paper away when screw is started.
tractor_37260
depending on the space available, just poke the screw through a thin strip of paper, and pull paper away when screw is started. Or rub your chosen standard screwdriver tip on a strong magnet, works really well picking up and replacing Bachmann body mounting screws etc
smokebox
1 minute ago, wonk said: thanks ! local Take note that these are only for placing screws in position and getting the screw started. If you try to tighten screws with this tool, it will be damaged.
Scrapman
Google Quickwedge screwdrivers. Got my first one in 1974. Available in lots of blade sizes and lengths. Other makes are available but they are just copies. You pays your money, you makes your choice. Ray
