Was there a round of applause from the Orange army :D

A nice member of the orange army took the photos.  They are a great bunch of people, always ready and willing to share info and have a laugh.:friends:

Another snippet of information confirmed today is that there is to be a retaining wall built opposite the one under Hurn Road bridge, so quite a lot of future piling to do.

Probably York.

I think it's still possibly Peterborough, but bearing a "route" plate rather than a simple "P"

The Peterborough boundary is (was?) at 82m 20ch or just under three miles up the line.

Based on ess1uk's latest comment, I've done a bit more digging. It would seem my earlier suggestion of (probably) Peterborough (or possible future control from York ROC) is incorrect. WS7005 is the first signal on Lincoln SCC WS workstation on the Down Spalding.

Wonder if they are going to clean up the graffiti that is on the bridge piers before they leave site?

No, it is not their property.

It has been mentioned locally about brightening up the John Clare mural on the north side wall between the two bridges of the A15.  I will see if I can find out whether this still on the agenda.

< I fell off my horse a few posts back but I've got on my high horse this time for a rant>

If I had my way I would eliminate those morons from society that spoil our landscape.

Since the lockdown this year when a lot more people have been out walking and cycling the amount of litter around this site, lanes and cycleways has increased substantially.  The bridges are strewn with discarded food and wrappers, cans and plastic drinks bottles.  In this hot weather they basically stink. :bad:

Some photos today from my roving reporter friend.

New access road/path coming towards Marholm Brook/west side of Cock Lane footbridge.

Drainage on the east side of Cock Lane footbridge nearing completion.  The land around it will need building up quite substantially.

Some heavy road/rail gear getting ready for the weekend, more near the trees in the background of the photo above and half a dozen flat rail trolleys

Saturday 8th August. The arrival of a crane and trucks. Photo's from around the A15 bridge, Hurn Road bridge and the temporary footbridge:

Some more from me from the past two or three days.

Where the lines cross Werrington Brook the precast concrete wall that is slotted into the girders is complete.

And as Mick posted the drainage works by Cock Lane Bridge were being completed whilst I was there with the manhole covers being concreted into place.

The shuttering is up for the bridge abutment on one side of the new Lincoln Road bridge, the young lady climbing down appeared to be in charge.

Then from todays possession we can see, just in front of the 66, the section of track to be removed and replaced with a switch and crossing. It looked to me as if the cuts have already been made in the rail, the Kirow crane looked as if they were getting ready to lift the section out.

And finally Mick had highlighted, in the last three or four pages, some instructions chalked on the rail, well there's a bit more on there now, the first word is disc and seems to tie in with where the switch will be cut in for the junction.

The farmer has started to cut the crops in the field but, without permission, I'd still not walk across to the boundary fence.

Glinton Junction mid afternoon Saturday and still no track lifted.  Plenty of toing and froing with the crane.  The 66 has been parked under Lincoln Road bridge since early morning, engines still running but no movement.  The crane had left one of its trucks behind at the junction and retreated back to Hurn Road then the track machines came out in force so it looked as though some serious action was imminent as I left.

Information from the track gang this afternoon, laying of Marholm Junction is scheduled for week 9 and week 16 next year.:good:

That would seem to be more complex than Glinton Junction as they have to move the up Stamford and connect that in as well

The down Stamford would be simpler

I assume a new Up Stamford will be laid whilst the old one is still in situ as they did with the original diversion.

That would be the obvious solution to us but we have been out-foxed many times in the past.:scratchhead:
