Hi  Is there much more work to connect the joint line to the dive under ( box). It is the only part we have not seen

Yes, there was a picture of that area on the previous page and you can see the new pointwork stacked up in the background ready for instalation.

Glinton Junction (Joint line to dive under) has already been installed. It is plain line from there to the box. Marholm Junction (Stamford lines junction) is going in, we believe, in early June.

It isn't possible to get any pictures of the Glinton Junction end of the box until the land bridge is removed.

Rail services to be reintroduced on East Coast Mainline through Peterborough after safety concerns

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has reintroduced services and expects to operate a robust weekday timetable from today (17 May) as trains are safely returned into service

More activity on the ECML through Werrington Junction area and beyond.

Monday 17th May. I have just ridden across the new Lincoln Road bridge by invitation. It will be open while they dismantle the temporary bridge.

The entrance from the Werrington end and looking towards Glinton:

A new bit of tarmac on the entrance to the bridges:

Looking towards Werrington:

I was told they would be putting a bit of fencing on top of the lower bridge walls:

Some unusual bricks on this raised platform. Not sure why:

Start of another fence?

I am a bit surprised they have not gated Lincoln Road at the northern end before it was opened.  The unwanted van dwellers will be over the bridge and into the space at the southern end before the next sunrise.  This is how it used to be:

It is tactile paving to discourage people from a dangerous area.  It was on the old bridge before, just on the west side.

I'll have a look at the gate on the northern end of the bridge this lunch-time and post any relevant images. Thanks for the heads up re the 'pointy bricks' or tactile paving Mick.

I nipped out on the bike in between showers during a sunny interval ;) :) I am trying to exercise more during my lunch breaks as part of my new health and fitness regime.

Oddly I've been out as well and have a series of almost identical pictures so I'll just use the ones that are different.

I'll kick off with saying that both the Bailey Bridge and the new bridge are in use.

IMG-9943.jpg

I don't think the barrier in use will deter very much.

IMG-9946.jpg

The lighting under the A15 is now relying solely on the permanent lights, all the temporary stuff has gone.

IMG-9949.jpg

A slightly different angle on the fencing at the top of the cutting.

IMG-9950.jpg

And they are nibbling away at the land bridge still.

IMG-0215.jpg

This was my take on the view to Glinton Junction taken from the new bridge through the gap between the verticals of the pallisade fencing. It is going to be a good spot for watching trains go by.

IMG-0216.jpg

Finally work is still going on to install the cable ducts under the new bridge.

[Peterborough Today quote]

Spalding had previously been a victim of the Beeching cuts to the railway until the shuttle was introduced on June 7, 1971.

This was initially just for one journey in the morning rush hour and another in the evening rush hour.

Over time, the number of journeys increased with more stations being introduced.

Yes, another poor journalist no checking the facts. Where are these stations to be found between Peterborough and Spalding?
