Because the maps & images will be stored on more than one server across the world, depending on which server has served your visit to Google Maps will determine which images you may see - Google will replicate data across servers but how quickly it spreads will depend how important they deem it to be right up to date.

Both the images are derived from the same satellite photos, so why should they be different?

Google Earth Pro does seem to have better quality images though.

They are not quite the same, there is a time difference, in the one with the IEP

image.png.a9f55200c46f2ff186c62c2cf844b223.png

and without the IEP

image.png.1306d827a61e5632788a6a0c1ebbd9bd.png

Two different images, the resolution looks sharper on the second image, perhaps that is the issue, what resolution was served to each device.

Maps are constantly updating the imagery, it may be that two sets were produced at different resolutions.

There was a google car round my neighbourhood today updating the images for streetview.

The satellite imagery used in mapping software isn't made by the providers - Google, Microsoft or Apple, it is bought from professional companies who use the images for all sorts of purposes.

Only learnt recently that Israel was and has remained with fuzzy imagery for many years because companies like Google were until very recently outlawed in the US from using higher resolution images as Israel were concerned such images would be used against them.

Plenty of bits of other countries are also missing or in low resolution I would hazard.

Yes, for some peculiar reason, nuclear deterent submarine bases tend to be fuzzy. Certainly France and the US.

There's a lot of poor Streetview coverage in certain countries.

e.g. There is little or no coverage of German cities however St Petersburg in Russia is well covered.

Streetview is a different system to the aerial views and is just tacked onto them, sometimes they don't agree.

Back to work on a Sunday.:ok:

Starting to move the rails on to the trackbed from Glinton Junction to Lincoln Road.  It is a slow process dragging those rails for quite a distance.  Still cannot see any sleepers around the site.

The temporary Lincoln Road footbridge is being jacked up off the concrete plinths and placed on to timbers.   There is a lot of auxillary equipment being removed from the bridge.  Removal of the bridge itself is due next weekend according to those working on site today.

Someone has made a mess of the new tramac at the south end of the new bridges.

I'm glad they are straightening those rails. They made my tracklaying look good. OK, I know it was the effect of a very long lens.

Even so, it is quite surprising how flexible rail is

There used to be a video clip of a guy flame cutting a piece of rail half buried in earth.

When he completes the cut the rail springs straight catching him under the jaw. Looked nasty.

If you look on the Virtual Railfan website grab bags there are videos of trains of long rails going around the chord lines at Deshler OH.

You would think they were made of rubber!

Ah, that tells me how they are removing at least part of the bridge, it will be run back onto the field to the north over the rollers put in place. Despite appearances the bridge is very stiff vertically when in a cantilever situation and can carry it's own weight easily.

Certainly don't sound rubber!!! :D

It is probably the lateral forces of the rails on the wagons causing the flange squeal.

On the last wagon I expected quite a difference in how the rail ends were aligned, expecting the inner rails to be extended more then the outer rails but they all looked to be fairly equal.

When it first hits the curve you can see quite a few rail end moving laterally within the confines of their supports.

The main noise I would agree is flange squeal although you can just about hear a bit of clunking noise as the rails move up against the vertical restraints
