40F S & T
Hi Who is the train company ( LD ) that are running test trains Kings X to Edinburgh only stopping at Newcastle and Morpeth. They are to start a service later in the year. Is this a back door way of getting rid of GNER?

That went years ago (2007 to be more precise) All train "franchises" are now run on management contracts for the DfT until Great British Railways (a Government Holding Company) takes over Edited June 29, 2021 by melmerby 1

It's another open access operator (like Grand Central and First Hull Trains), rather than a management contract franchise/concession under DfT control. Again, it is a First Group operation, under the trading name of East Coast Trains (as Donington Road mentions, above). They will be using Class 803 Hitachi Inter-City Express Trains - fundamentally very similar to the Hull Trains Class 802s. They plan to run five (IIRC) return trips, per day, between the two capitals. 1 2

It was a false alarm. 1

TBH I can't see open access lasting in the era of "Great British Railways" Would the Government really want to see custom creamed off their services? RMweb Premium melmerby Posted July 1, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 1, 2021 There was/is a nasty dip in the up line as it leaves the pointwork for the diveunder. I wondered how the bogies on the 66's on the tracklaying train would have coped.

Comparing the two pictures above which are from a couple of days apart it certainly looks a possibility albeit helped by a slight curve in the cooler weather.
Trog
Looks like they are using Duff jacks to lift the track to me. Perhaps lifting it to its final level to make unloading the top ballast in one go easier.
Donington Road
It was three years ago, six months before the orange army descended. The Down Stamford now runs above Brook Drain South Brook Drain South at the bottom, Werrington Brook through the sluice on the right, Marholm Brook coming in from the left and all going over the spillway under the footbridge into Brook Drain North. The field top left where the main Morgan Sindall site was established. Edited July 1, 2021 by Donington Road 6

Donington Road
The supports for the old temporary footbridge are being broken up at Lincoln Road. It would have been nice to have had a railing put around them and the platform used by photograhers videoing trains. The one on the Werrington side is still untouched.
