Continuing with the front siding and the wharf

Made a bufferstop last night

Filled in the wharf and trying different buildings in the yard, I've settled on what was the station building with gents removed and a carriage from the old layout

Another occasional phase of enthusiasm, adding some more road, fencing and wall.

A short fence was added to fill the gap between the tracks on the crossing and some new wall on the left. A new section of road is being added across the front with a dropped curb in it for a gateway, this will be filled with a cobbled surface

Making up fencing to go infront of the warehouse siding, salvaging timber from the old goods yard fence, dismantled, cleaned and made new horizontals

A while back i did the wharf wall though not painted

And this week i felt like trying some buildings for the right hand end of the layout. Cardboard mock ups for the front and back plots. The middle plot will be derelict and overgrown, something ive noticed in aerial photos are empty plots of grass in otherwise built up and busy industrial areas. Ive made this roofless brick shed to sit there

Several months ago i started infilling the bottom of the flange ways in the in-set and ended up making a bit of a mess to clean up later, last week the last bit of the foam board was put in and filled around. I filled it in because it was annoying me that i could see the void under the foam board ruining the look of it

After that mess i started on the far track but was taking much longer to stuff filler in because the void is bigger in the flexi track so the new method was to mask around and pour watered down filler in to a sort of gravy thickness. Its taking a few goes as the filler reduces in height as it dries

Taking this idea further, the rest of the track is being filled in like this to save on the amount of ash needed to cover it, masking tape was put on either side of the tie bars to block the filler getting in and to make walls down the sides of the track bed

Next section to fill, again setting up masking tape walls

It’s a pity the structure of the forum doesn’t allow a thread to be listed in more than one section. I suspect it’s a fundamental limitation that would be very hard to change.
Anyway, keep up the good work, the new project looks to be progressing well.

I honestly think that the old layout pages are obselete and i dont any them anymore, not just because that layout is gone but all the posts are a bit useless without the photos and i'm not going back to replace them, i would just keep the first post which would become a compilation/back story intro for what it used to look like

I'm still working on a few little here and there, but next is getting back into roofing. Ive figured out a better and quicker way of making the slate strips, made loads yesterday and then started on the office which has just been finished. I want some fancy chimney pots which i'm going try making myself20240123_204921.jpg.4afbbfb8d075183c1403dac262b68874.jpg

I would just edit the first post with a message and links to where the current layout and pictures start.

There's no harm in leaving the pages there and removing them would stop a good few of us from finding the thread in "threads you've posted in".

Those slate strips look amazing.

The mill got roofed a while back but not yet slated. Yesterday made an end backscene which bolts on, ive been mezning to make something like this for a while, it keeps the curtain off the layout and is a view blocker to keep the curtain and outside world out of camera shot
